All I remember from my brief time with 3 is that Ciri found Geralt and had been training under him for a while but she and Yennefer went missing or something following a timeskip

I also have Witcher 2 from a sale but I heard it might not be worth bothering it, what do you think

2nd one was pretty good I thought. Just not as good as the third.

Definitely one to give a runthrough at least once.

if you're -really- looking to get the whole narrative, no. A ton more stuff that hasnt happened in the witcher show yet takes place. Witcher 1 touches on it somewhat, but Geralt has amnesia in that game for the sake of letting you not have to read the books to play it.

Witcher 2 isnt as good as the first or third game but its got a really nice narrative. Geralt still has amnesia so they still explain book stuff for you.

Witcher 3 has Geralt with his memories back and doesnt explain as much book stuff to you as the other 3. It's very much a continuation of both the book and everything all the games have built up. It has way more impact to it if you at least have played Witcher 1 and 2, both of which are super worth it.

I pray god will curse the writer, as the writer has cursed the world with this beautiful, stupendous creation, terrible in its simplicity, irresistible in truth
