Okay. For a season/series opening story line I was a bit underwhelmed. Hopefully they have something up their sleeve for later in the series.

Hm yeah sounds about right. Feel like half the time that's how the season premier goes for Doctor Who. They can't all be The Eleventh Hour after all!

Episode 1 felt more like last season to me; something was off, but I couldn't (and can't) quite put my finger on what exactly is wrong.
Episode 2 I enjoyed a lot more, although it also suffered from the some of the same Chibnall problems last season did aka bad pacing and weird choices. --- How paralyzingly dull, boring and tedious! ... Copied to Clipboard!

It looks like HBO Max bought exclusive streaming rights for New Who last year, but because it hasn't launched yet there hasn't been anywhere to stream Season 11 yet.

oh i forgot episode 2 was this weekend. starting the season on new year's day really threw me off
thought the first episode was okay in that unlike s10 it was paced well, had a real sense of danger and fed off fun doctor who lore, but there's still just... something missing about this current incarnation. there's no moments where the show overcomes bad plotting to still make your heart swell. could be the companions, who i all enjoy but it's like they've cut up one character three ways and giving just one defining characteristic apiece. music is still bad too, bond knock-off aside. hopefully the show finally puts it together this year because jodie whittaker deserves good scripts. fantastic ending though, can't knock that. --- ICON: Kiwami means extreme. ... Episode 2 does give some promising setup for the season, but there was a good amount of meandering to get there. There were things that felt unnecessary and also things that felt like they've been done before. To me it felt like the only reason it was two parts wasn't because there was that much story to tell but because certain things are only allowed to happen in two-parters.
