I watched the show and then started Witcher 3. I think the game spoils things because it happens after the books but I guess that would be the same as reading the books first. It was nice knowing some of the events or names people are talking about. Someone called Geralt the Butcher of Blavakin and I was like "I get that reference"

Witcher 3 is slow to begin and the combat is laughably bad but the story is really good.

Witchers 2 & 3 are better than the show, IMO.

I feel like you only need to play Witcher 3. People might complain about combat but I like it. Game is great and I love the alchemy and leveling up. The story is fantastic and all of the side quests feel real and fleshed out.

1, like many say, is very flawed. Perhaps I'll try it eventually but I feel like the gameplay is not my cup of tea. 2 was fine but 2 feels like it has never found its footing while 3 feels like it knows what it is and where its at. It feels like they were messing around with 1 and 2 and then eventually when they made 3, they were like "Fuck it, I'm going to learn what lessons need to be learned and make a fucking awesome rpg"

I've always approached the combat in 1 like a real-time version of KOTOR's, it's not really much of an action game.

I think the open world is the witcher 3's biggest weakness tbh. It would have been better without it

Im replaying through 1 and I forgot how great it is. Dunno if I want to run through 2 again.

1 is great if you can tolerate Eurojank PC RPG's.

2 is basically a non-open world Witcher 3 with a more branching story.

You often here people to skip right to 3 because that's when the franchise got super popular. But I think it's at least worth trying the older ones. It's very rewarding playing through the entire trilogy.

1 is the best for storytelling and the plot exposition, just play on easy for the story.

I still really enjoyed 2 but it didn't really seem to excel at anything and I hated how obvious all the choices were.
