I never understood this. Not back then, before he stepped down as owner / runner of the site, and not later on, when he was gone.

He pretty much dealt with the worst people that ever used this site at the height of this sites popularity.

On top of that, I believe he generally got a bad deal out of selling the website (mind you, not nearly as bad as often joked about, but still bad) and probably has a bad taste in his mouth because of that.

Yeah, a massively popular website, and he got less than 2 million dollars for it. Lulz. I don't know exactly what a "good" price is for the sale of websites under different conditions is, but having said THAT, I thought that this site was maybe worth 50 or 100 million dollars, back in 2007. I mean, it was in the Alexa 500, was used by many people for the boards, for the FAQs, and so on. Back then, along with GameSpot and IGN, it was one of the most popular English language gaming websites. Wtf @ less than 2 million for it. CNet must've laughed their asses off.

I have been told that the acquisition of the site by CNET would have greatly increased it's value, which is why I tend to believe that people who point to those inflated figures are either just ignorant or shitposting for a laugh.

That being said, I still wouldn't be surprised at all if 2 million was still a lowball figure that he wasn't in a position to negotiate for whatever reason.
