its not good

late november-december

she started vomiting disgusting brown, liquidy barf. It was rancid, putrid. It smelled like death

I took her to the vet, spent around 300-400 bucks total

they were just basically "lol idk"

I would've felt way better if I spent all of that money and they would've been like "This is whats wrong with her, this is what we're gonna do to make her better"

HELL, FUCK, JUST EVEN THE "This is whats wrong with her" part would've been way better than just fucking nothing god dammit

they just gave me general medicine to take home.

mid\late december she seemed to have gotten better. I can't even tell you if its cause of the drugs or not. She stopped vomitting. but slowly she stopped eating. At first she just ate smaller portions. I thought she was just annoyed from the kittens always up in her business

She started losing alot of weight.

Started 2 days ago, she hasn't eaten at all. She used to get excited at wet food being opened. No reaction.

I put it in front of her, no reaction. I think shes wasting away now.

I should mention that this happened to my first cat, tina. She started peeing herself, stopped eating, and the vet couldn't ID Whats wrong with her. She wasted away and died a month and a half later.

I told myself I was gonna put my cat down if she wasn't looking better. She did, but the end result happened. I feel so stupid. I wanted to stop her suffering but it ended up happening anyways.

on top of all of this, this shit ALWAYS happens during the fucking god damn weekend and in between checks. all vets round here are closed on weekends

So she still has the weekend to suffer through. Shes currently in the bathroom away from all of the kittens and other cats. when I try to set food near her, their nosey asses show up. Its actually what I've been trying to do for a few weeks now

I should mention I changed her cat food. I used to get some generic shit but I started getting some Indoor cat formula stuff that has alot of minerals and stuff cats need. at least thats what it says

its way better than the other stuff

and I stopped giving her tap water. Either spring water or water from my cooler. I used to put it in a plastic feeder. I read somewhere Plastic isn't good for storing water so I started using a stainless steel bowl

I thought those efforts were the reason she got better in december, but it apparently never went away

Don't feel stupid for your actions. You're just a loving owner who wanted the best for your cat. You couldn't know what would happen. Not if even the vets don't know(Btw did you just go to one place or multiple? Though I'm not aware of the cost of a vet visit).

There is one vet open right now but it cost $300 to euthanize a cat. I can't believe this. I can't do that. I have no choice but to let my cat suffer. This world is so cruel. I'm just losing it right now

Sounds similar to what happened to one of our cats. She had kidney failure. Would have cost a fortune to treat.

It doesn't sound great but there's still a good chance that it's not as bad as it looks. Definitely go to a vet as soon as you can though, perhaps a different one this time.

Sorry for your loss. Its awful when theres just nothing you can do to fix things or make it any easier.

I knew it was her time. I decided to take her outside. I put her under a tree and placed a towel under here for comfort. the sun was able to hit her from there

I was outside with her for an hour. I decided to hold her while sitting under the tree. Another hour passed. I started talking to her. I told her she didn't have to hold on anymore. I can take care of her kittens. I take care of the rest. Shes just hurting herself trying to hang on. If theres another live its gotta be better than this. It was her time

She passed away around 20 minutes later

She held on though

She started meowing

then her breathing started getting courser. each breath was longer than the last. Her pupils started getting big. Eventually she just stopped.

I just go through burying her next to my childhood dog and my tina

Her name was Mizu
I was at my girlfriend's apartment when I discovered her. I did the pshpsh thing and she came over. before we knew it,s he started hanging out at the door.
One of my best friends used to hate cats but he would hang around mind, and before HE knew it, he started feeding a stray around his apartment, and would regularly curse me for it

my GF said now she knew how he felt because she started feeding the cat. One day she called me and told me the landlord said she never put a pet deposit down so she can't have the cat. the same day the pound picked her up. My GF found her picture at the local pound on facebook

so I just went and adopted her.

a few months later, I noticed she was getting chunky. I figured it was just cause she couldn'ts top eating since shes not used to having free food. but she kept getting bigger and bigger

she was preggers

she gave birth to 5 kittens on September

I can't help but feel like these kittens needed to be born. If it wasn't for my interference, TWICE, these cats wouldn't have been born. My GF wants two of them. I might be keeping the rest

I wonder whats in store for them

but its such a cruel world, if they have a purpose, then was this all Mizu's purpose? just to give birth and die? She was a stray, she had a hard life. I know I made her last months good, but why couldn't she enjoy her full life like this?

My GF does Make up, shes at a wedding. She said she'll come over as soon as I can

my Coworkers were nice enough to cover for me

Sorry for your loss, dude. Just awful.

I have a 16 year old dog who is barely hanging on right now, so I know some of what you're going through. She's basically blind and extremely stupid (she used to be incredibly smart, like jump up to unhook the latch of a gate smart), but now regularly forgets which side of her kennel the door is on.

It's crushing.

Thank you everyone. I think the kittens were actually looking for her yesterday. Theyre around four months old. They're far from helpless now. When she passed away, I debated about bringing her back inside just so they can see what happened to her. I know animals don't process things the same way but my oldest cat was outside when she passed away. I briefly put Mizu on the ground and my other cat walked up to her and she took several steps back when she realized she wasn't alive anymore. So I do know they recognize death. I'm trying to say is I hope I didn't deny them closure. Hope they don't think she abandoned them or something. I know I'm thinking too hard about this
