What's a good affordable bullet proof vest?

Seriously though, any places I should check out? Will have pretty limited time because I'm going for work, will be staying near O'hare.

Right by O'Hare there's a really cool and unique pizza place called Barnaby's. Definitely check that out.

You're also right near Rosemont which is the hot spot for bars and entertainment. Casino there too which is nice but very pricey.

If you want to see what a really good strip club is like, check out Polekatz.

Of course you have to go to Portillo's as well if you've never been there.

I'd avoid going into the city.

I'm not an expert on the city but I've travelled there on business a few times. Just be advised that O'Hare is FAR from downtown, the Navy Pier and everything. IIRC you are close to Wrigley field though.

No, it's totally far from anything in Chicago.

Really just stick to Rosemont area. You're not missing anything if you don't go downtown.

This is so disingenuous

chicago is one of the biggest cities in the country, has a ton to do and a ton of historically significant landmarks

maybe youre from the area and have grown jaded from traveling into town but it is absolutely worth visiting the city proper especially if youve never been

idk, never been. i don't eat meat so burger joints aren't really my scene, ha.
When you order a burger they ask what protein you would like and you choose from 10 oz. beef patty, grilled chicken breast, chicken tenders, black bean veggie patty, or impossible burger.

It's my favorite place and I've been vegetarian for years.

Or two. Last time I went it was February or March of the year. It was about 50 degrees at maybe 4 p.m. Wind kicked up and by 6 p.m. it was 34 degrees. This was downtown at the Hilton. We had walked to the Navy Pier but hailed a cab to get home - it got so fucking cold so fucking fast.

I'm saying for the TC. He's working a convention in Rosemont. All he's looking for is things to do at night. In that situation, it's not at all worth the slog and cost of going into the city. Anything in the city can be duplicated in the suburbs.

For example, Kuma's Corner? That place is an awful anxiety-producing experience. You walk in there and it's just a sea of people, you can't even move. I went there once and it was awful. We stood there for 10 minutes before we said fuck it and left. But these Chicago people have it in their heads that that's how things should be. Fuck that.

Instead, if he really wants to try out Kumas, he can go to Schaumburg! They opened one in Schaumburg a couple years ago. Much more comfortable experience.

Other than museums, which I don't think he's going to, I can recommend anything in the suburbs that is better than in the city. Try me.

We have concerts in the burbs all the time, and the biggest shows are always out in Tinley Park and stuff. We have lots of breweries too, including the really good one Two Brothers in Warrenville.

im not talking the biggest shows. There are very few good shows at Allstate arena or whatever

the good concert venues in Chicago are places like Metro, Thalia Hall, Reggies, Empty Bottle, Subterranean, Schubas, Lincoln Hall, Bottom Lounge, etc.

ya the small museums/cultural centers around the city are cool. often free or w a small suggested donation, if you are into your heritage there's probably a museum for ya - and a restaurant!

seriously though there are great li'l pockets of ethnic groups. a few blocks of vietnamese food right off the red line, a mile of indian restaurants & markets way up north, paseo boricua, polish everywhere...
I'm from SoCal and was surprised at the quality of the Mexican food I had in Chicago. Not just the standard dishes but some real deep menus. I don't normally expect much east of New Mexico.

The Chinese food was ass though. Hopefully I went to the worst Chinese restaurant in Chicago because what I had shouldn't be the norm anywhere. Andrew Zimmern was on to something when he criticized Midwestern Chinese food.
