Current Events > Assassin Creed games seem kind of...boring?

I have tried the most recent two games and they both just blend together. Everything looks the same after awhile being as you don't enter the vast majority of buildings. Everything is so large in scope but it seems like mostly filler.

After playing the first two games, I said "Ok, we're done here."

So late last summer I decided to give the franchise a go again. After all, nearly a decade had passed!

And so I bought Odyssey, having heard stellar reviews.

I ended up returning it the next day.

I would say origins and oddyssey have that issue for sure. I've never played unity or syndicate. The series sort of ended for me after Rogue. The older games still have filler content but it's no where near as bad as the two most recent titles.

Black Flag isn't too bad but it feels like the parkour and climbing is on autopilot and the combat is pretty boring. The sailing is pretty fun though.

Assassin's Creed has undergone massive transformations throughout the years.

I played the original when it came out, kept quitting like halfway through. Had no idea how anyone could enjoy the following games... played 4 (Black Flag) which was basically more like a pirate simulator and it rocked, and then played Origins and decided I wanted to learn more about this world they built, so I went back and played through the whole series.

It's so fascinating to see how different 2 is from 1, and how they've changed with each installment since then.

For me the appeal is mostly in exploring the spaces and time periods they give you. I find AC's worlds to be super detailed and interesting, and I have a tendency to finish AC games with only a vague idea of what the actual plot was. It's why I can sit here and praise Unity as one of my favorites in the series, because that game's version of Paris during the French Revolution was one of the most impressive settings I've seen in a game. I don't even play them like AC games, I favor strolling around the streets rather than parkouring across rooftops

2 was great until it wasn't. 4 was okay too. I got bored quick with them so I don't play them now.

They're fun games when they're not repetitive. <_<

I loved Odyssey, but sneaking up behind enemies to take them out is basically my favorite thing to do in a game and hoo boy is there a lot of it to do there.

nah i loved that game i just thought the series was getting repetitive after playing it and lost interest

Well if you ever decide to get back into it, Rogue is basically Black Flag but with more variety to the scenery and a business restoration mechanic.

I liked 2 and Brotherhood. Got burnt out with Revelations. Hated 3. Thought Black Flag was okay. Dropped the series after that.

Waited to try Odyssey because I love the setting. Just never got around to it.

I actually liked 1 even though it was pretty repetitive. I also enjoyed the multiplayer back in Brotherhood and Revelations.

I played 3 for a bit, but I never finished it. I also picked up Black Flag for free and just couldn't get into it.

I love the majority of the games. Just wish they'd bring back a few stealth elements to these cool new maps.

The games always motivate to do a bunch of research on the setting.

Eh, if you can actually sit down and focus on them there actually isn't too much repetition. That's how I was able to complete like four or five of them in a couple of weeks last year >_>

It's a franchise that I'm in love with the concept for, but I got burnt out on them after Rogue. Maybe I'll end up playing them again at some point but other games I'm more interested in have been consistently coming out.
