Tinkering with ideas for high-end mercs as is my wont. What do you guys think of this particular build, battle wise? Paging @Drakeryn @HeroicGammaRay @Dantezoid since I know they all have played the game.

Emet-Selch (Final Fantasy XIV)
Villainous Male Otherworldly

Emet-Selch is as he appears in Final Fantasy XIV, with full access to his cutscene powers and attacks from all relevant instances, save for Black Cauldron. He has access to the full extent of his power of creation, but may not summon sentient beings with it except for those displayed in his attacks. Gigantomachy will not have its enrage functions.

It's always been a bit of a sticking point that 7/weeks are all spectacle fighters and gunners with no mages on that level. What do you all think about this particular one? Or is he more of a beefy 6/week?

Even if we assume the trailer cutscenes are canon? I agree with just gameplay the WoL isn't as impressive since the main feat they have is outmuscling Susanoo, but they got some nice feats in those promos

problem with wol is like he has so many feats but its a MMO so like half the community is like yeah he solos then and then the rest are like lol no but it turns out who knows what he can do

I think it'd be more interesting to throw in some of the Primals from ff14 than some of the characters. At least you can judge the primals in a way because everyone has seen their general powers at various tiers.

The trouble with Primals is we would need to ban Tempering, which gimps them fairly hard.

I mean, in battle tempering, yeah, but pre-battle/results tempering as a mind control effect for the battle/next week could be interesting.

Its also a problem because they canonically get summoned at different power levels all the time.

Sounds like the only solution that makes everyone happy is to make all the primals one big pure support with a random mind control ability that can also choose the battle music every week

Like by all means Emet-Selch is a fuckload stronger than any Primal except Bahamut and Shinryu, but how respectable that is depends on how much you respect the Warrior of Light anyway. I personally think the former is an easy 7 and most Primals would be low mid 6s, but I don't know if I'm the majority here.
