I got a useful degree (computer science) instead of a time/money waster degree so it was worth it

Nope. Got my job in my degree so it's all worked out. Not to mention that college was one of the best periods of my life. Made tons of friends there and learned to think for myself rather than believing everything I read.

I can see someone regretting it if they got a really dumb degree...there's some things you should simply not get a degree in since it won't help you have success at all. Sadly, most kids don't know this at the time when they're supposed to pick a degree and don't realize until it's too late. I know a guy who got a Geology degree and could never get a job close to it and worked at Lowes for years.

I know there's lots of math. I found this funny since I had to take one math class for my accounting degree and my roommate with his Comp Sci degree had to take a lot more.

In either case, programming and development PAYS and it's in high demand now so it's a good field to dive into.

I didnt find it hard. The math was the hardest for me since im trash with straight math. But all the proper compsci stuff i breezed through. Im sure others in my classes struggled with some of it though

Unless you studied something truly stupid, I don't see how you could regret higher education.

Right on campus though it was a major university with a football and b-ball team and all that. Was absolute chaos on weekends.

My degree is completely unrelated to my new position but I don't think I still would have landed it without the degree.

Very true. Some places won't even see you if you don't have a degree in SOMETHING. I think it's more just proof that you're competent enough to get through college.

The degree itself is basically worthless but while I was getting it I got an internetship at a company that did the kind of work I wanted to do and they hired me after the internship was up. So I don't regret it

Kinda. Mostly because I don't even think anyone reads most applications I've ever filled out.

Recruiter: I don't think you're qualified for this. We're looking for a programmer.

To the people who got their degree and regret, it could be worse.

You could've spent the money on getting a degree, and been unable to finish one semester's worth of credits before graduating like I did.

Yes, bless the accounting industry. Such a nicely regulated and controlled facet of business. We love it. If only all industries had a FASB to set the standards.

Yeah, I wish I wouldve waited or did an enlistment in Air Force or navy first so I couldve matured better, but theres nothing I can do about it now.

Oh God, avoiding enlistment was one of the best things you could have done. I don't know a single person who was glad they went. Folks don't come out of those with anything but wasted time and a lack of skills...it's like pushing the pause button on your development and yet you're still aging. So, you get out and, at 26, you're still at the same place everyone else in terms of skills as they were when at 20. Almost all of them still had to go back to school to get a few more years of credits.

And that "maturity" thing is a natural effect of you getting older...not the army making you better. No one lies more about "teaching you job skills" than the armed forces...yeah, they'll teach you to have skills for a job...in the armed forces. Just not anywhere in the outside world.
