And by "good" in this context I mean well meaning individuals who are willing to respect other cultures and foster brotherhood.

In order to become a Type 1 Civilization, we need to be harvesting 100% of the power our planet can provide, including solar, wind, tidal, and geothermal. This level of control is simply not possible with as many different cultures and creeds as current international politics provide. While most of the world has a fairly respectful attitude towards others, there will ALWAYS be dissenters.

The only way we could ever become a Type 1 is if one culture utterly dominates all the others and can enforce its rule. I don't mean to imply that it would require an "evil" civilization, only one who is willing to put boots to necks to achieve their goals.

With that in mind, do we even WANT to become a Type 1? Is it worth sacrificing our individuality to move further on the galactic scale?

Also: If we DON'T become a Type 1, what are the odds an extraterrestrial force eventually shows up who IS willing to put boots to necks? Would it be better do reach that stage on our own before someone shows up to make us (assuming aliens exist at all, of course)?

Not really sci/fi. The Kardashev Scale was created by a Soviet astronomer in 1964

You could be right, you could be wrong. Guess all we can do is let it play out and see what happens.

We'll never be a Type 1 civilization as long as the laws of Thermodynamics hold.

What you're describing is a truly evil civilization and I hope whatever one attempts it is swiftly defeated.

becoming a type 1 civilization would indeed probably require a "one world government" or whatever, but that's where we are headed anyway, if we are to become a space-faring civilization. and there is basically a 0 percent chance that we would become a type 1 civilization before we become a space-faring civilization. imo i think it will go pretty much like it is in The Expanse, where the UN is the united ruling body of Earth, and countries have become "Trade Zones".
Bunch of sci fi nonsense. Humanity will never give up its individuality.

Islam is what is ultimately holding humanity back. Eradicate them, and we'll begin to see quicker progress towards becoming a type 1 civilization

Yeah. It seems unlikely (but not impossible) that individual nations would go their separate ways when colonizing space, thus taking humans in two (or more) separate directions

I would like to think if aliens show up to try and wipe us out and take our resources that we would band together to stop them. Maybe not because we learned to put our differences aside and work together, but at least a more family type deal of "Hey! Only WE'RE allowed to kill each other for selfish and discriminatory reasons! Get off my planet!"
