Why does this occur?

zombie apocalypse setting combined with metal gear solid story and stealth...yeah it's great.

I think so

It's multiplayer was a breath of fresh air from your "cod and clones" and offered a different place of over the shoulder than the declining Gears of War.

Its storytelling did a great job of "show don't tell" which many narratives trip on.

And we see actual character development in both protagonists and the ending isn't good or bad as it's up for debate. I for one think Joel made the right choice, but it's been argued he was wrong.

Great game and a must play on my list.

I wouldnt even consider the gameplay average. All of these new Naughty Dog games have pretty boring gameplay. Havent played Uncharted 4 yet though, heard that one is good.

My biggest gripe with it is the stealth in TLOU is excruciatingly bad imo and the game often encourages stealth. It's like the forced stealth level in non-stealth games but times 100.

Story is the most important aspect of a game for me, so I place a lot of praise on The Last of Us as a game. I think it's one of the best games I've ever played.
