That kind of requires a law to be broken, to witch there wasn't since it was well within the executive scope to work with Ukraine to preform a proper investigation on the previous admin abusing power. Not that I expect Democrats to know the law instead of talking out the ass.

Instead you just wanted him to be impeached for whatever you wanted, like a Russian colusion that never happened, or obstruction of congress which went to court last week, or your own candidate was abusing his powers and got caught... again. Shows enough that it was a party line vote and they're refusing to follow up with the senate because they know they don't have seats to convict..

Getting Trump out is immediately better. No more pardoned war criminals, no more stupid wastes of taxes on ineffective walls, the bigots will crawl back into the woodworks, insurance and food stamps can stop being fucked with, and we make it clear that you can't just fuck with the elections.

Democrats will view it as a win for justice and as proof that the Republican Party is corrupt.

Republicans will view it as the corrupt Democrats manufacturing outrage and fake allegations to try to discredit their president who, in their eyes, has done nothing but good for this country.

Everyone will ignore their own sides political agenda and foibles as usual and will venture to the great echo chamber known as social media rather than communicating openly with the opposite side or thinking critically about the fucked up situation were currently in where, no matter what side of the aisle you sit on, youre always voting for the lesser of two evils.

Watching an entire country worth of people not only play a losing game but also encourage others to play the same losing game for the past 20 years will get one that way, I suppose.

Make no mistake however, I will continue to enjoy the twitter drama. Watching other people, especially the President, apply outrage culture is one of the few good things about social media.

No. When you're a head of state, you have no business asking another head of state to investigate a political rival. That's just not proper. Leave alone every other circumstance involved in the case, none of which justify such an action and only make it worse instead, making this a simple, clear cut case of abuse of power.

For one, Biden is not a political rival.
Two, even if he was that's not an excuse to be waived from an investigation into his criminal acts while in office.
Three, we have had a treaty with Ukraine for two decades specifically for assisting in criminal investigations.

The Democrats did not bring forth a criminal accusation. The impeachment will be nullified by the Senate and dismissed. There cannot be a trial when there isn't a criminal allegation.

Not liking the President and listening to news networks that spew bias 24/7 doesn't make everything the man does a criminal act. Proceeding to reinterpret an already unconstitutional law to apply it to bumpstocks through executive order on the otherhand, is against the law. Not that you dems would dare question gun control, because lord knows your type just love making law-abiding citizens criminals overnight.

Let's assume, just for the sake of argument, that Biden did something illegal. Part of his illegal activities presumably would include some dealings in Ukraine, along with his son or whatever. Trump still has no business asking Zelensky to investigate them. Even if Biden wasn't a political rival, it's still Trump having some sort of personal interest in the matter. It's just wrong in so many ways. Again, the fact that there is already a cooperation treaty with Ukraine makes it even worse. This means there is already no obstacle for such an investigation to proceed smoothly. It's not necessary at all to ask for Biden to be investigated, if you investigate him and there's something you need from Ukraine they're required by treaty to cooperate. In fact, there's already such an investigation! And of course nothing illegal has ever come out of it. But that's not enough for Trump you see. He wants to pressure Zelensky to come up with some charges against Biden, real or not, and launch himself an investigation. By simple virtue of his position, TRUMP CAN'T DO THAT. INVESTIGATING BIDEN IS NOT PART OF OUR FOREIGN POLICY WITH UKRAINE. Please, please tell me you understand that??

The problem with Trump is that he thinks the USA is just another company for him to defraud and embezzle. So he thinks other heads of state are just the heads of other companies that he can ring up and make informal deals with. He was probably surprised once he realized Zelensky wasn't playing his stupid game. We were this close to having Trump plunge us into an international scandal. The guy is a menace to all, including himself.

It means that he cant be pardoned for the crimes he was impeached for.

I've seen a lot of people repeating this, but it doesn't seem to be accurate. As far as I can tell presidents can't pardon away the consequences of a successful impeachment (that is, they can't be restored or restore others to office) but they can pardon the crimes themselves.
