there was a whole censorship kerfuffle where they changed part of the story from being about gravure to being about regular modeling and dressed characters in accordance

The edits to that plot point are for an early part of the game and doesn't actually matter much. Also the replacement costumes are much better.

I played the uncensored patch version on Wii U and afterwards kinda felt like the effort of hacking my Wii U for that was not worth it

It's a little weird when characters still act as if Tsubasa's suddenly half naked, but I agree, the outfit they gave her to model in the English version looks really cool on her, the original bikini is just... a bikini, same as every other gratuitous anime bikini shot.

Fixing the bizarre issue the original version had with crashing is the biggest QoL improvement they could possibly make.

I dunno what her original outfit looked like but her replacement one was one of my faves IIRC

but the relevant scenes were all pretty weird "OH NO I HAVE TO TAKE PICTURES AND POSE FOR THEM" "OH WOW SHE DID A PRETTY NORMAL POSE IN PRETTY NORMAL CLOTHES HUBBA HUBBA" "MUAHAHAHA IT IS I THE EVIL GUY THAT TAKES PERFECTLY NORMAL PICTURES" "I TOO HAD TO TAKE PICTURES ONCE"

...then again, based on how it played out, I suspect I would have felt kinda scuzzy playing the original one, so shrug

Looks like they still haven't added subtitles during battles. I agree with the decision not to dub it, but not being able to understand the battle speech means missing out on characterisation and strategy tips.

Was crashing a common issue? I don't recall ever running into it.

Certain screens, particularly party member profiles would cause the Wii U to freeze whenever you scrolled down holding the down button. It was baffling at the time because it's such an innocuous reason for causing a crash.
