Nothing revolutionary or anything, and not exactly flashy, but for $30 is say it was 30 hours damn well spent. If you want something that at least tickles some of the Zero Escape vibes just a little, I recommend it!

https://youtu.be/w3Qb5zXhE4Y

It's had very little push since coming out recently, and I'm not exactly expecting anyone here to drop 30 bucks on the fly like this, but I figured I'd at least bring it up with a topic so a few potentially interested people might consider it in the future.

I enjoyed it quite a bit as well. Don't think I'll count it among my favorite VNs, but it was very worth the purchase.

Did you do all the additional content afterwards?

The amount of sequel bait in this game is ridiculous. Not to mention the same writers have a new game codenamed "RD" in development, which is almost certainly "Raging D*****" of some sort.

I did!

The revelation mode was a pretty novel idea for adding replay value, although it didn't add as much as I was hoping for. Can't help but think there won't be enough momentum behind this to warrant a translation, but I thought the same thing about Requiem for Innocence, so hopefully I'm wrong again. The Mitsuji stuff didn't really excite me that much, but I'll give it a chance if it does get one.

My hope is that the game releasing on Switch will garner it at least a semi decent fanbase. If it was just PS4 and PC, wouldn't think it stood a chance.

Very happy to see not only interest, but two other players! Thought this topic was just gonna dissappear into the aether with zero responses.

Usually the popular mystery thriller/mindscrew VNs have fans here

Considering checking this out as well as AI somnium

I feel like the Mafia aspect specifically is not leaned on enough in the marketing. I probably should have put that in the title.

Though I also guess I don't know how well the game is doing in general? Maybe better than I'm thinking. From what I understand, this is the first big VN release from Kemco, the rest have all been mobile stuff.

Somnium Files is also fantastic. Raging Loop is definitely cheaper right now if that's a factor, but could go either way.

I'm about to play Shibuya Scamble next and then Fatal Twelve. Yu-No is on the books, though the first episode of the anime was pretty off putting. WorldEnd also has my eyes.

If you couldn't tell, I'm on a VN tear, with the qualifier of "must be a console release".

Oh cool. Somnium Files is 30% off on PSN and RL is 10% on steam. I can wait until RL drops a bit more. And hopefully neither has time travel because I really can't deal with that right now.

428 is one of the best VNs I've read. I'm going through AI: The Somnium Files, and YU-NO now, the former being a lot more interesting. I wasn't too invested into WorldEnd Syndrome even after four hours of reading, but I'll give it another shot after finishing the other two.

I'll also take a look at this game, seems right up my alley when it comes to console VNs.

I honestly have a difficult time answering that. They'd be about even in my mind, but I think the recency bias in my head is outweighed by my Pro Uchikoshi bias, so maybe Raging Loop? Can't really go wrong either way. Somnium Files is definitely the better production, no doubt there.

Untrue, the others just aren't translated and it started on phone too. (i hope D.M.L.C. has a shot at a localisation with its remaster next year)

That said, this one was the one i wanted to play the most, ever since it came to steam (also untranslated) like 2 years ago, so there's that too. I might commit and pick it up now with your recommendation

Kemco actually localizes tons of low budget RPGs on PS4/Vita/Switch/PC as well, I've played through a few. None of them are anything that special, but they are decent for a twenty-hour turn based RPG.

Just realized I didn't actually say what my favorite part of the game was, the characters. Some of them seem a bit off putting at first, hell even our lead, but as it progresses I really can't point towards a single one that isn't fantastic if not at least very good. Chiemi in particular stands out as an all time top tier.

If I had to pick a flaw, it's that your mileage may vary on the VA work.

Only part about the voice acting I disliked was the extremely slow/stuttered pace that some characters talked at (wolf guy and Rikako mostly, occasionally Kaori to a lesser degree). Overall though, I think they did pretty well for using a bunch of literal unknowns. Chiemi, Takumi, the real wolf guy, and Kanzo all were really good.

Don't feel like it needs it's own topic, but would just like to note that I just got the Fatal Twelve platinum and it is also very good. Not as good, but still very worth playing.

If anyone was on the fence about this game, it's 20% off in PSN's holiday sale.

Think I'll pick it up.
