I know I have all of that voice activated shit on my phone already (I dont use it but it's still there I'm assuming), but the way Google and Amazon are basically giving their voice activated home devices out for basically free (or literally free in some cases) is kinda weird to me.

Actually human beings *do* listen to it, though the recordings are supposed to be anonymized / scrubbed of any personally identifying metadata first.

It's going beyond just catering to our tastes and extending into the realm of creating content to shape, develop and bend our tastes to the marketing.
