Seath is the boss where I felt I was robbed for a tail cut drop weapon.

i totally cut that tail off.

I tried, had one solid attempt at it, and quickly gave up after losing that run lol

Going after the DLC content now. Sanctuary Guardian definitely a worthy foe, I won but it took multiple tries and a lot of patience and opportunism. Probably the best boss since Ornstein and Smough, though a bit too time wastey when he decides to just shoot lightning over and over.

Seath is a pretty cool boss lore-wise but it's not terribly fun.

Seath's cool looking too and the unwinnable fight was a clever idea for a game like this. So he's at least got that going for him!

Artorias was a rough boss fight and gave me more trouble than anything since Ornstein and Smough. Eventually went and made a Reinforced Club +14 to deal with him, and even with that it wasn't easy. That damn super mode and those OHK thrusts...!

I got through Oolacile Township without too much trouble (definitely had to switch to the Silver Knight Shield for its sweet magic resist to deal with those mages though), and same with Chasm of the Abyss, but I don't really feel up to challenging the boss there yet.

So I warped out and started on the Demon Ruins. Ceaseless Discharge (in addition to having a disgusting name) honestly gave me a ton of trouble too, I eventually had to go full tank to deal with him because I was bad at dodging. Even then I needed some RNG luck because I couldn't deal with one of his attacks at all. Then I stopped after killing 7 Taurus Demons.

Artorias is such a good fight. My favorite in the game by far and definitely a contender for Dark Souls + Bloodborne for me.

So Bed of Chaos is the worst boss in the game, right?

The best you can say for Bed of Chaos is that it was an interesting idea executed poorly, but DeS even essentially has a similar boss concept that isn't complete and total shit.

Okay, beat Gwyn and linked the fire. It was pretty easy since he can be parried, but I liked that the game ended with a duel against a human-sized opponent (set to some great music).

There's at least two bosses I definitely missed (Manus and Priscilla) and I assume probably others. ...I kind of assumed I'd be allowed to go back to before Gwyn but it looks like it goes straight into new game+. 'whoops'

Oh since I didn't mention it, Gravelord Nito wasn't much of a fight either. I definitely felt overpowered for that fight so I guess maybe I was supposed to do it earlier.

Overall thoughts, there were a few rough moments (mostly involving the game's "platforming" challenges) but I had a great time otherwise. The combat really started to click with me by the end, and I appreciated that boss fights (and normal enemies even) force you to strategize instead of just rushing in with the same equipment for every fight. I think I like Bloodborne's edritch horror theme a bit more than the dark fantasy setting Dark Souls has, but I was pretty invested in the lore by the end. ...Didn't help me puzzle out the whole story but I got some of it, I think!

Youtube has a bunch of video dedicated to explaining Dark Soul's lore. Something to check out if you're interested!

Dark Souls and Bloodborne are the GOAT From Software games, although the others are also very good.

Kalameet, I assume. (The dragon in the DLC area.) Maybe Stray Demon from returning to the Undead Asylum. The most "significant" content would probably be Gwyndolin which you can get by either equipping a ring in the right spot to dismiss a fake wall or by killing Gwynevere in Anor Londo and plunging it into night which also dismisses that wall.

I didn't want to derail the topic while you were playing but I started Dark Souls II yesterday and lmao at some of these mechanics. Death no longer just turns you hollow, it inflicts a debuff that drops your max HP. And it stacks with consecutive deaths! I was running around at like half my true max HP at one point!

Guess you never played Demon's Souls, eh

If it really bugs you, look up the Ring of Binding

I replayed Dark Souls 2 recently, and my main takeaway from it is that its best parts are as good as the best of Dark Souls 1 but that it's REALLY long and has a lot of average parts in the middle.

I have that ring, and yeah, it helps! (And yeah I've only played Bloodborne and Dark Souls 1)

It doesn't bug me too much but it can be kinda annoying at times. Mostly when my mortal nemesis Armorer Dennis decided to ruin my life and wreck me like 20 times in a row until I was forced to learn how reliably parry him and just cheese him. ...With my reward being a dead end area. >_>

Nito is not that tough, but a lot of it depends on how you proceed after anor londo. With four paths that open, they scaled them all to be the same difficulty for the most part. So once you start progressing the end just gets easier and easier.

The other games do the same thing but do it early on, and then set you on a single path at the end, so it maintains difficulty throughout.

Anyway, glad you enjoyed! Now do 2 and 3.

And then Sekiro.

In Demon's Souls, if you were in 'hollowed' form you had half your max health. You only became Human again after beating a boss. You 'hollowed' again immediately after your first death. There's a ring to negate this to 75% of your max health. It's easily missable and there's only two accessory slots for rings.

I love that game.

Demon's Souls is an excellent game, probably my third favorite in the series, and it's unfortunate that it's confined to PS3 exclusive hell. At least PS4 games will work on PS5, so Bloodborne continues to have a shelf life.

Oh yeahhhh. It killed me once in the valley-that-was-very-obviously-a-trap and I never went back. Whoops, looked cool too.

I got the Stray Demon. Missed Gwyndolin, who I've heard of enough to know about but never actually found.
