This increasing gap between the super rich and the poor is not sustainable.

We can all ignore it because it doesn't affect us yet, but will the general public be willing to ignore it once it gets to a ridiculous level like 1 guy owns 99.99999% of the nation's wealth?

Cause we are on a path to that state.

Capitalism is intimately better than Communism or Socialism. At least in Capitalism you own your possessions.

The issue with the anti capitalism crowd is their answer is always socialism or communism. The problem there is if you think a government is corrupt under capitalism and they take advantage then it'll only be much worse when more power is given.

People who seek power positions usually have issues or bad intentions. So to me making sure the government doesn't have a lot of power is important.

That being said I think capitalism with some socialist programs and safeguards is the best way. There has to be some kind of worker protection. There has to be a safety net for the very sick people. I mean real sickness. The medical system needs to be overhauled. Get government out and the companies will have to lower prices. Same with schooling. The government programs should be for those who absolutely need it.

But another thing. A problem with government programs is it keeps folks stagnant. I know people afraid to elevate their position because they'll lose benefits. So there has to be a weening off process too.

Honestly though. What's the best form of government or system doesn't matter at all if the same corrupt people run it. It doesn't matter if the same things are in place to allow for easy corruption. The cycle will continue to repeat. The founding fathers were very close with finding safeguards. Unfortunately they didn't fully understand banking for profits or the way corporations could finance and manipulate things. Maybe because the later institution wasn't exactly a huge thing yet.

I've always said left right middle capitalist or socialist. We should put our fucking differences aside right now and fight to get rid of corruption and the things that make it thrive. To me those aren't right or left issues. If we all recognize people on our side or the opposing sides together as corrupt and vote it righteous ones then we can start talking about conservatisim vs liberalism. Capitalism vs socialism. Etc.

Because changing it means war.

When it collapses there will be war.

So you can either have people fight to die now or wait and see how long it can go.

Meanwhile, they try to add things to it like social security etc.

Actually its more satisfying to get out there and earn your way taking advantage of a capitalist country than it is to shill for gimmie gimmie. But the later is easier.

I guess the price for buying a property in the city will eventually plateau in 50 years or so as population stops rising as much. Profits from the stock market will be harder to make, investing will mostly become a way to prevent loss rather than gain. Rural areas will become more poor and more marginalized as they become more focused on resource extraction and low-paying jobs.

this topic is too idealistic. if capitalism fails (i don't think collapses is the word) then it will be because of material reasons like running out of computer chips. literally running out. or scarcity of those materials making it cost prohibitive to buy a computer, stuff like that.

If your profits are contingent on repeating positive results, in theory they would be better than the Government. The Government can pump thousands and millions into a project that isn't doing anything but sinking money and not care (see: Fast and Furious, in its most positive interpretation), whereas a corporation doing that would see a massive amount of suffering wrought by angry shareholders.

Operation FAst and Furious, the Obama era disaster of an ATF sting operation. The people they were going after were being gone after to flip as witnesses on THEIR bosses by the DEA (I think, it doesn't really matter beyond "Another agency") and instead of canning the op, they were told to keep giving the cartel guns. It was full stop the biggest law enforcement cluster fuck since.... Ever? Maybe the Detroit Riots in 67. It's hard to top getting occupied by federal troops (as in the actual fucking Army) for the third time in your history.
