They cut costs

Like they buy some shitty cheap application/device instead of a half decent one from a name brand. And then start complaining about productivity loss or it not working. Like what did you expect? This is not only what you wanted, but what you paid for. You didnt want it to work well because if you did you would have listened to the professionals you hired to tell you the best options.

>those clicking sounds in the laptops? Those are the harddrives failing
How long do we have?
>I dunno, it's literally impossible to tell but if I take them and back them up we can keep the data and that s-
No, we'll just hold onto them and keep using them
>Okay but this means it could in theory fail in a few seconds, if I back them up now we'll definitely save the most data which has stuff like the past 5 years of information on them that... you really really need since it has the very important finance information?
Okay if that happens then we'll deal with it
>No, you don't "deal" with a HDD failure other than throwing it out and accepting the data is gone for good
Okay who's the CEO here?
>Okay who's the person who's familiar with computers and is paid to inform you about when we need to act to prevent problems to the business because of IT related issues? Me. I told you my professional opinion. You're the CEO. You make the decisions. I want you to understand that what you are doing is not a wise idea.
*glares*

"Cut costs then complain about the consequences" is basically how almost every business seems to run these days.

That moment is when I quit.
Like, bitch, you don't know what the fuck you're doing. There was a reason the former CEO never let you speak to me, because you're a stupid bitch who has no idea what the fuck to do when it comes to computers.

Who the fuck gets an instruction that says "please make sure to save your work, then shutdown the computer before unplugging it as the battery only lasts a few minutes" and understands that as "it's only a few minutes drive to work from my home, that shouldn't have been shutdown, can't you stop it shutting down?!"

We havnt had staff cuts per se. Weve had rapid business growth but no additional staff to support this growth. And now the business is starting to suffer a bit for it

Depending on what you do, if you're getting more work than you can handle and they aren't going to get you more staff, get out since they won't support you and will most likely get rid of you to hire people for half the pay

Why hire more people when you can just have current staff work harder or take on extra roles?

That's actually a pretty big debate for a lot of companies.
Consider the following.
You pay me $40000 a year. I want another person to help the extra workload.
Or you can fire me, not hire someone else for $40000 and just hire 2 people for $25000 each who are desperate for a job and has skills

Unfortunately i cant "get out" since i would need to move to another city to get a similar job to what i have now :/

Theyve technically been giving me more responsibility and even been increasing my pay to go along with it so it aint all bad. But they are only hurting themselves. I wont work harder than i am now, since that would only mean more hours

I give them charts from our project management software, rough estimates of how long everything they want will take, rough estimates of things they dont know about, ask them what projects they want dropped and they say none. I ask for more staff and they say its not in the budget. /shrug

If they're paying you more then it's not too bad so long as they're meeting your expectations tied in with average wage for your area.

You could still push for another worker and ask to train them in, would get you the ability to stretch your resume to say you have leadership skills at work

Of course, that usually fails, since they tend to expect the new employees to operate with intimate knowledge of the internal workings, with none of the necessary experience for that.
