Can't say I ever really thought about this in regards to Lethal Weapon though. Die Hard isn't a Christmas movie in the traditional sense but it's dotted with the imagery of the holiday so yeah. That being said, a movie that overlaps into Christmas can be reason enough for any viewer to enjoy watching it at Christmas. Also release date doesn't matter, Christmas films regularly get released throughout the year and some places got it during the holidays anyway. It's a Christmas film and there isn't any case otherwise. Lethal Weapon is an edge case. The imagery is there and it has Christmas songs. However, it is all incidental to the plot.
