And tough enemies

All that poison, blind, petrify, zombie, slow, silence, death, demi, float , curse etc shit.

Especially JRPGS. They give you a laundry list of spells and then they only fucking work on enemies who die in one hit.

What's the point.

Like in some FF games where bio is a strong spell that can also poison, but anything that isn't one shot by it is immune to poison?

This, really. A lot of the time you can skip a lot of those nonsense effect spells completely and still be fine.

True

FFX-2 is the worst for this . A dozen dressspheres, 500 different spells/attacks and you can beat the game easily just by mashing generic attack the entire time
