Don't know... I didn't watch The Last Jedi though I heard it was pretty terrible. I hope it will be good, though.

I don't understand why people struggle so much to make good Star Wars content. Seems like something even a total hack would be able to easily mash out something decent with.

It's star wars so even if it's crap I'll still see it.

I really don't like the Disney Sequels but all things considered I don't regret watching them or anything. They were enjoyable enough they just kinda sucked same as 90% of all movies really.

The lack that special something that makes a movie a timeless and gives it lasting appeal. I thinks it's cause they are going more for style over substance. Styles go out of style.

Disney Star Wars are very bad. They try to make "Safe" movies and rely on the "Star Wars" name. Like the exchange with Poe and the whole "Prank caller" routine or the Luke and the Blue milk scene, it was all done for cheap laughs. Hell, even the 1-3 trilogy didn't sink that low.

I strongly doubt we will have a good Star Wars movie as long as Disney insists on making them "Safe"

I am going but not until like the 4th week. Did the same thing for Solo, basically waited until it was about to leave theatres and saw a matinee. Until they right the ship (aka fire Kathleen Kennedy and disassociate themselves from Rian Johnson) Star Wars is no longer a "see on first night" event like it had always been.
Even after Phantom Menace, I still lined up for AOTC. I had some faith in Lucas being able to bounce back. I have no faith in these idiots who rushed 2 movies into early production without planning out the trilogy at all.

Yeah, if I see it in theaters that's probably what I'll do. Maybe if some friends want to go earlier I'll tag along but its a busy time of year so odds are iffy on that working out. I might just take a long lunch and see it a random midweek afternoon in January.

No. I used to love Star Wars, but the movies went downhill. Worse; Disney's acquisition of the franchise allegedly meant the end of further Tron movies when a third one would have been most welcome.

TLJ played it safe in all the spots it needed to try something new and "subverted expectations" in all the places that didn't matter.

For example.

Still a hard, very distinct line between good and evil, light side and dark side.

Rey stays pure good, Kylo stays pure evil (despite teasing otherwise, as in the twist is there is no twist).

Story is still about Rebel's vs "Empire".

By the end of the movie, basically nothing about the situation has changed, it's just how the movie ended at the same place was stupid.

Taking the story someplace new would be like, Rey accepting's Kylo's offer to run the First Order together, Kylo doesn't want to kill the Rebels, Rey's friends, and his mom for no reason, while Finn and the Rebels are left to fight the 2 most powerful force users in the galaxy to stop their dictatorship.

My husband has made plans to watch it in the theater however he's outting will be solo; I have no desire to watch this particular film in theaters.

I felt dissatisfied with the previous entry, yet I'm still a tad curious how they'll handle Leia etc.

Also by watching it at home I can vent out my dis-satifaction if need be. I want truly want this film to be good, I want to experience something amazing however I'm wiling to wait until it's for home release plus I can also lurk on the opinions of others before going into Episode 9. Get a good assessment of the film.

While I didn't really like either of the previous two films I'm invested enough to see the conclusion. If it's not enjoyable either however I'm likely done.
