After devs are compensated for hours worked, should they keep on making money infinitely? I don't think so
This is the hole in the argument.

Sure, they don't work for free. But that is never the actual problem. It is not about compensation for work but about exploiting how media works.

Think of it like licensing out a chair instead of selling the chair.
Anyone who sits in the chair has to pay full price for the chair. Does that make sense? No.
But you used the chair, so the creator should get a kick from it, even though your friend bought it for his house.

I am not a pirate but I also think there is something unethical about the infinite profiteering of digital media.

if you don't want to buy a chair license, then don't buy it.

they are free to set terms to their work. you are free to refuse those terms, but then you don't get their intellectual property.

What's unethical is telling someone there's a cap on how much they can make based on fleeting consumer want.
