The Zero Escape trilogy is my favorite game series of all time. I never finished Hotel Dusk, but now maybe I should.

I wouldnt say PW is a visual novel. Theres too much actual gameplay. Its more like a Point&Click Adventure

I say this as someone who tried to get into the genre after PW and was severely disappointed in what they actually were.

Steins;Gate was amazing though

I never cared about VNs until I tried PW and ZE. Considering Danganronpa and Ghost Trick at some point and that AI Something Files although it's 60$

Have you tried Doki Doki Literature Club? I think you might like it. Its very short. Katawa Shoujo has a genuine romance story and its not that long either. Theyre both free.

Thats a common meme statement from people who havent played the game and a very disingenuous way of putting it.

Yes, all the characters are disabled in some way (including the protagonist) but the whole point of the game is to show that the characters arent defined by their disability. The character who lost her legs continues to be a running champion she previously was with prosthetics. The character who was born without arms is an artist who draws with her legs as naturally as if it were her arms. The character whos blind doesnt have it affect anything at all besides not caring if someone is ugly or scarred because she judges people on the inside and is still the class leader and even takes care of the protagonist whose heart condition ironically affects him more despite his condition not being visible on the outside. The characters are all instead defined by their different personalities and backstories

If anything, I think this game genuinely treats disabled people better than almost any other story.
And yeah, there are sex scenes but most of the time its used to further the plot and showcase their growing relationship and isnt gratuitous barring some exceptions like the dumb anal scene.
