45 million. Let me put this in perspective. If each turkey were a person, that's like eating the population of the 24 least populated US states, largest being Oregon. For what? Thanksgiving? Disgusting. This year, why not consider vegetarian options? There's tofurkeys and they taste great. Not wanting turkey? Impossible burgers are AMAZING and eating them reminds me of when I used to eat burgers. They're not vegan since they use the same grills as meat burgers, but at least no animal died for your meal. You could be compassionate and eat vegetarian/vegan food, or eat the flesh of innocent animals that only ever wanted freedom. But before you do, put yourself in their position. How would you like it to be raised on a factory farm, having an awful life until you're eventually steamed alive, plucked, killed, shipped, frozen, thawed, cooked, and then eaten? You probably wouldn't like that. So why pay for people to do that to some innocent animal? Boycott meat and have a cruelty-free Thanksgiving. --- I am a proud female furry Ivy League student. ... Do you people even like turkey? Every year I see the same topic saying it's a bland meat. You're killing millions of turkeys for a tradition you don't even like. Gross.

I like turkey burger, turkey bacon, turkey sausage, all outside of Thanksgiving. I'm not a fan of traditional Thanksgiving turkey. That's why we eat ham.

Impossible burgers are AMAZING and eating them reminds me of when I used to eat burgers. while i do enjoy these topics, just want to point out that nobody should EVER be recommending these "Impossible [meaty food here]" items because the main ingredient is: 1) not FDA approved despite their best attempts to lobby it for 4 years now, and 2) has not performed well in testing, with connections found to unusual reactions in mice that include major health issues such as cancer, kidney failure, anemia, and more. and when i say testing i don't even mean independent testing. i mean testing that Impossible Foods did themselves, with extreme limits on the sample size and duration of less than a month. they then did another study that didn't have results and tried to chalk it up to a fluke but nah, that's bullshit. independent testing needs to be done on long term effects. stick with Tofu if you want to go the vegan route. it's healthy and we know what it does. alternatively, mushrooms are an excellent alternative. but these Impossible ___ give results that we don't know exactly what they do but based on the little data we know it fucks with your body chemistry in ways that aren't clearly detailed or known and it should be avoided. https://www.gmoscience.org/rat-feeding-studies-suggest-the-impossible-burger-may-not-be-safe-to-eat/ --- "Maybe it's a tentacle, molesting the planet itself. - Aschen Brodel. ... Turkeys are jerks. We've got some wild turkeys in the area. Sometimes, they'll walk into the middle of the street in the morning, and traffic has to stop for them. The turkeys know this. The toms come out, strut around with their tail feathers up, and the hens are running around. If you try to pass them, they will gobble angrily.
