I'm fine with that. I used to be against it, that is until I saw Michael Clarke Duncan play the Kingpin in the Daredevil movie. Changed my mind completely. Such a fantastic portrayal of him.

So instead of a farm is he going to be living in the hood of a city? Maybe have a few lines about helping inner-city Metropolis? It could also have a scene like in Black Panther and hell show up at a basketball court.

Theres no way black Superman is going to be on a farm, I can already picture the SNL sketch making fun of something like that.

Because it's not about Superman, it's about Clark Kent? I mean everyone in Smallville believed that John and Martha were his biological parents, including Clark himself until his dad showed him the space pod he arrived in. What are they gonna do then, say they just randomly adopted this kid? Imagine the social workers coming to their door and being like "hey we heard you adopted this kid but we seem to have no adoption records with your names on them or any records that this kid was even born, so... explain yo selves?"

If their intent for changing Clark Kent's skin color by having him portrayed by another non-white actor as a means to appeal directly to a specific demographic just by doing that and nothing else to character I would say that is the definition of pandering.

But then as others have mentioned there is a black Superman within DC that isn't Clark Kent. And the article only says he's in talks to play Superman which is not necessarily Clark Kent.

unless the publicly stated aim of the casting director and producers is to cast CK as a black man for those reasons, you'd have really no way of honestly knowing that.

Except you don't know that's their intent. MJB is a good actor and fairly popular. Casting him can just as easily be on merit. So saying "Making Superman black is pandering," isn't really proof since there are other reasons they could be doing it.

Which is why we're saying making a declarative statement like "It reeks of pandering," is erroneous. And when asked why they think that, "Superman has always been white," isn't really an explanation.

Basically, some people think that any time a character is race swapped, it's 100% done for pandering purposes. That's incorrect and a bit racist.
