from my experience, the gameplay was pretty dynamic, and "messing up" just meant having to find alternatives in completing your mission

but yea, using quick saves is also fine, just so you can get familiar with levels, target routes, unique executions, etc.

Depends on if you're going for a more casual experience or a more hardcore experience. The game is really flexible here - as someone who played the original two games and struggled immensely, the new Hitman games were a really welcoming change of pace.

But there's a difficulty that only allows you one or two saves I think so it's definitely doable without

Don't be afraid to use them. They're there if you want to go back and redo something. The game is all about replaying missions and finding new things and new ways to take out targets.

It was cheap in general because the AI would literally just freak out and your cover would get blown for literally no reason

Absolutely. It gives you unlimited saves for a good reason. You're meant to experiment and reload if things go badly. At least until you're on the highest difficulty or doing the elusive targets.

I kind of agree. I can see why someone might play that way to explore different methods/routes/outcomes, but I like just doing my thing and living with the consequences. It makes the experience of doing something right after trying a dozen times that much more rewarding.

On the other hand though there are some levels where there's like twenty different assassination methods and you're just like "wtf how do I do X or Y", so it does save time there.

Yeah. I got way more into games when I started working around my mess ups and not save scumming. That shit gets boring.

Some of the opportunities you can do are time-based (your target will meet a specific person at a specific time) while others are event-based (the specific person that you want to use as a disguise wont leave even if you wait), but there are always so many ways of completing the mission so basically no.

While time does impact your score, it will never prevent you from getting silent assassin rank, assuming that you meet all the other criteria (no bodies found, never spotted, never recorded, no noticed kills, no non-target kills)

Well, in addition to @Trelve's response, there are challenges you can undertake that require you to do things with a time limit.

Don't worry about using saves until you become a hitman elitist. On a side note back in the day my buddy could silent assassin every level in Hitman 2 on the hardest difficulty with no saves. That was quite the feat because the stealth in that game is fucking trash. He could also do the same thing in contracts.

It is. The nature of the games are such that they're meant to be replayed by level, anyway.

Worth noting that the higher difficulty limits you to just one quick save, and doesn't autosave. So I don't think you should feel bad about save summing on the difficulty that explicitly allows you to do that.

I've been a quicksaving fanatic since Dragon's Dogma. That experience also helped me when I finally decided to check out Fallout New Vegas, lol.

But I got that same feeling from Hitman.

Gotcha. Also, as an owner of Hitman, do I get any deals on the content in Hitman 2, or do I have to buy it at full price and then get the Hitman levels for free?

For that one specifically, you need a remote explosive (which you probably haven't unlocked yet) that you can place in the camera. Usually the opportunities require multiple steps in order to make them viable.

It might help, as a newcomer, to play with guidance on, just to familiarize yourself with what you can do.

Well, that's kinda lame. Ah well.

By the way, if anyone doesn't have the game, the GOTY edition is $12 on Humble Bundle and I honestly might get it because it's only marginally more expensive than just buying the DLC at this point.

Not really, other than there are some escalation missions in H1 that weren't brought over.
