Hello friends,

I am in need of guidance from trusted experts on how best to go about playing these games via alternative methodology. That is to say, without the use of a DS. Due to site rules -- at least I think this is a site rules issue -- I need to be vague about what I am asking. Regardless, I want to play Platinum at some point after finishing Shield and I ought to check out HGSS as well. I own Platinum but I do not own HGSS. This is problematic as HGSS copies are extremely expensive and I am not in possession of sufficient spending money to not care about that fact.

As it happens, I will be borrowing my roommate's laptop to play Trails in the Sky: The 3rd. I presume the preceding sentence will be of some help in aiding me with my quest.

I own a DS. Problem is that the games are like $100 plus now. Often considerably more.

I kind of endorse this. Switching to your mouse every time you need touch screen functionality makes a lot of DS games a big pain.

Nope! Just the cart is fine. Maybe I'm really unlucky whenever I do a search?

Because the only stuff I've seen that's under like 80 at minimum has always been 20-ish bucks and very clearly counterfeit!

Touchscreen functionality isn't a huge issue if you're just playing through the game. It will "lock you out" of sidestuff like Pokathlon, but those are pretty much touch-screen only, so just using your mouse for those shouldn't be a big deal.

I bought HeartGold a couple of months ago for about 50. It was a Dutch store though (but ironically a US cartridge)

HG/SS have countermeasures built in to block emulation

your only way to play them is with a physical copy

Most of those have been bypassed as far as I know. The only problem I know of is that sprites sometimes get corrupted, but you can fix it by reloading the map.
