However, the company itself hadnt confirmed Shaiks comments until today. It comes after years of frustrations over what some call an outdated beauty standard including former Angel Karlie Kloss, who quit the gig in the name of feminism.
The show, which has taken place annually around this time of year since 1995, used to be widely regarded for its cast of slender supermodels. Insiders told The Post that modeling in the show was once the ultimate achievement.

Last year, Ed Razek, VSs former chief marketing officer, made offensive comments to Vogue.com, saying that there was no room for plus-size models on their runway and that he would not cast transgender models.

And this summer, it was discovered that Leslie Wexner, CEO of L Brands, was a close friend of disgraced pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Epstein used Wexners link to Victorias Secret to recruit young women by promising them modeling jobs with the brand.
Ultimately, with the brands revenue declining quarter by quarter and changing societal ideas of whats sexy, Victorias Secret has been in trouble for quite some time.

There are some spaces that don't need to be inclusive. We don't need to cater to every demographic in every space. I don't get why businesses cater to one thousand people bitching on Twitter and one hundred starving "journalists" when their vast userbases doesn't care.

Haven't they also been getting lower and lower ratings every year? Victoria's Secret fashion show is pretty outdated when people can just look up hot girls on the internet.

The demographics of the userbase don't matter. It matters what the userbase wants to see representing the company. I'd imagine the majority of fat people don't want to see similarly fat people on a walkway. Only the people who make being fat a personality trait care.

Obviously they have to change something or else their revenue will continue to drop.

And people have been criticizing their underweight models since at least the 90s. At one point is was referred to as "heroin chic" because they look like fucking junkies

Well, girls care about appearance much more than guys, and fashion varies between sizes much more noticeably for women. What fits a small girl well might not look good in larger sizes, or might fit differently than expected since no one thought about their body type when creating the garment.

Also, I don't understand what is the downside to including plus sizes? Female fashion is likely a field you have no participation in.

It's all part of the process. This news will hit a lot of social media pretty quick as it has already hit gamefaqs and that's important to spreading the message. You don't think enough is being done? The bolded part is, by FAR, the only real reason we are seeing any changes. It always comes back to revenue, and if something is not making enough to justify actions then you change to try and make more money. That's it.

Sure. If people aren't buying from them because of changing societal views then it's absolutely right for the company to change the way they operate to align themselves more with what society views as acceptable. Otherwise like you say they will go out of business and another company more in tune with the public will take on the business.

I'm not often a believer on market forces knowing best but this is one case I think is a good example of where it can benefit society and force companies to change their behaviour for the better.
