For the Mohawk Valley, ya kinda.
But not entirely true.

The Niskayuna thing is wrong.
There is some money there.

The Drugs, Lottery bit is real.

Lay off, The Orange and Lake Placid though.

Also Benedict Arnold did not fight in Buffalo.
He fought on Lake Champlain, The Canadian Frontier, and at Bemis Heights in The Battle of Saratoga.

Yeah, most of Upstate NY is cheap as fuck. I'm looking for a home away from home from NYC and I've been looking on grabbing one of the houses up there. Some really good places in lots of areas of Upstate can be had for like $100-200K. Comparable stuff downstate are like $500-$800k.

Lots of people are moving up there to save money. In a decade or two, it'll be pretty populated.

For the most part. I give them extra points for actually featuring Upstate rather then 'Any thing above NYC'
....With the exception of The Headless Horseman, that's Westchester County. And Lake Placid that is The North Country, and very much not run down.
And ya, Benedict didn't fight in Buffalo.

Not necessarily, the east-side suburbs of Rochester are all relatively safe and $200k would get you a decent home.

Certain places are....Like when I said they got it wrong about Niskayuna, that is relatively upscale for the area...however it is just outside of Schenectady which has areas that are Umm....not too good. Albany has some bad areas and I don't even touch Troy.

It really depends from town to town. My town is even more upscale. I'm not rich my family has just been here for 100 years.

So it's really hit and miss. I would say one thing.
If there is any reason not to live in the Mohawk Valley ((Which this vid is kinda spoofing)) it's the weather.
They get hit with everything and hit bad. Tons of snow, tons of rain, highwinds you name it.
Everything comes straight out of Canada, crosses the lake, and funnels straight down that Valley.

It is beautiful though, as is much of New York. Plus they have Herkimer Diamonds!!

I've lived in Rochester my whole life. The people are kind of trash and it's very dirty outside of the suburbs.

So, I have Raynaud's disease. It's a circulatory disorder; doesn't really affect my life all that much, except that below 40 degrees Fahrenheit or so, I experience cold as pain. Despite this, 18-year-old me decided for some reason that going to school in Rochester would be a good idea.

I spent the winters questioning the wisdom of that choice.
