Apart they had goals and aspirations. Together they are so full of themselves for two people living such mediocre lives.

That's when a relationship is truly great though. When you are with someone who makes you feel special and secret and like you are a superhero tag-team in a world of weird people.

I don't even mean that to be cheesy. it's nice when someone can look at mediocre you and you can look at mediocre them and yo feel like you have a secret together.

the writers really didnt know what to do with the two characters once they got together in season 5, so they basically had no real problems until the absurd one that was forced in the last season.

also the writers kind of dropped the whole "dunder mifflin is a shitty company and selling paper is an unfulfilling job" premise after season 5 so there wasnt even a conflict of jim & pam wanting to live a better life

I can kind of see where you're coming from, but when pam was with roy her only aspiration was marrying roy and jim's only aspiration was getting with pam

it's only after they're together that you see either of them make any kind of progress towards their goals, i mean this is a pretty big and obvious plot line when they first get together... im pretty sure its meant specifically to contrast pam's relationship with roy to her relationship with jim

I get it. Im currently in that kind of relationship. But from the outside looking in (on TV) its just annoying to look at lol.

also the writers kind of dropped the whole "dunder mifflin is a shitty company and selling paper is an unfulfilling job" premise after season 5 so there wasnt even a issue of jim & pam wanting to live a better life. they've got the greatest jobs, they're true soulmates, etc, there's no drama or conflict

Yeah they just walk around like they have it all figured out past that point.

Jims is less noticeable after they get together. Pams development went from one extreme to another. Soft spoken receptionist turns into self important, holier than thou office jerk. Angela is similar, but she doesnt pretend to be a good person while shes being petty and mean.

Jim's best contribution to the show was when Michael Scott did an impression of him

Both characters are consistently insufferable, shit people. I wished nothing but the worst for them when I watched through the series.

yea if i was the writer on the show id make it take a darker tone, jim and pam get together but eventually realize it's not perfect and they arent soulmates, they realize that they didnt know everything about life in their mid 20s and have no idea what to do next. final step would be quitting dunder mifflin and going into the unknown, i think that would be more relatable than both of them conveniently finding eternal wedded bliss and professional satisfaction

well that's a different complaint imo, I think the entire cast changes and its kind of fun but also undercuts the premise of the show. like romulox said they stop giving off the vibe that the company sucks and the job is unfulfilling as the show goes on and they have more zany and unrealistic office shenanigans.

And with Pam, I mean, again they try to show this development like she has that whole scene on the beach with the coal walking etc. I dunno man, at least they tee it up with her, everyone else changes just because

Everyone in that show is a jerk , that's sort of the point. Minus Aaron and Oscar maybe.

I find the show to be really realistic with the character writing. I just wish the show ended after season 7. It's like the characters we're completely rewritten after that. And I understand why. It's just dumb and ruined the immersion for me.

Jim actually had aspirations but I guess was too lazy to really try and was stuck at Dunder Muflin for so long.

Pam had some artistic skills but really just wanted to be a house wife.

Still the show was very entertaining.

she can be pretty attractive. the show does a good job of making her look (more) ordinary.
