I think it's a matter of being open to whatever happens vs only being around for sex. Like, if sex happens when I'm out with friend girls, that's great, but if we just went drinking that's cool too. There are some guys that feel like they're just wasting their time if they're not getting laid, and it's like, why did you even come out if you're gonna be bitter?

I mean, I've had to turn girls down before. Mostly because of potential consequences (she's not single, I'm not single, she'd be clingy, etc.)

I interpret "given the chance" as being able to get away with it free and clear. In a no-strings situation with no possible consequences, I'd sleep with any girl I know.

I do not recommend taking those offers very seriously as a guy unless you're rock bottom desperate.
Give it a try, sure, you could get lucky. But don't go broke treating it like it's got high odds of success.

It's not uncommon for the female friend trying to play Cupid to set you up with another friend who's also having trouble finding a match. And a lot of times that trouble is that the other friend is annoyingly awkward/distinctly unattractive/toxic as fuck/all of the above...basically someone who's single for a reason. It's even a little more insulting when your backstabbing friend is trying to hitch you up with their awkward foreveralone BFF in her clique and is basically just using you as a convenient male sacrifice to end the other woman's single status. Yeah some of them do actually pull that shit...

Just like men can often be poor judges of what a woman wants, the same can be said about women looking to set up their male friends. Most innately lack the insight into what different types of men prioritize in partners, including how those priorities can change between looking for hook ups and long term.

Take it from a typical gay guy who had to frequently explain to my gal pals why a biological woman who identifies as non-binary does not make her compatible with a generic homosexual male...

my female friend in high school did something like this. I wasnt into her (my friend), but she did try and help me find a date for a dance or something I think it was. the girl she found was a freshman (I was a sophomore), and she had really fucked up teeth. like she had braces, but she only had her two front teeth and then some space and then all the other teeth. she was cute in the face but her teeth turned me off. fast forward 4 years, and that same buck toothed girl turned into a god damn super model lol. really missed my shot there haha

I've had like 4-5 people offer to set me up with people they know. I agreed each time and none followed through.

I had one female friend try to do this, only she tried to introduce me to a table full of girls instead specifically trying to set me up with a specific girl. I went with it and got completely ignored like not even a hi from any of them or anything.

Mostly guy friends tried to set me up but that always went nowhere, usually get shot down but I guess in that case at least I was acknowledged.
