All this raving about The Mandalorian. Yeah, it's probably the best Star Wars thing in years but it's still just ok. Great visuals but 2 eps in a we still have no semblance of a plot. So it was literally just made for people who thought Boba Fett was cool looking and are willing to tune in to him mugging around.

And deservedly so. I never considered Star Wars to be all that competent writing wise to begin with, there was never any nuance to be had, but they at least had consistent narrative structure. TLJ just seemed outright confused at certain points. And had so much PIS that I felt like I was watching a shitty JRPG play out.

I really liked the first episode, however episode 2 felt like a got dang filler episode. The one revelation that we got could have been handled in 3 seconds with out getting there in the most convoluted possible.

Star Wars is at its best when it's fun.

Which, TLJ wasn't, and The Mandalorian kinda is.

I still think TLJ is fine as a stand-alone. As a sequel to VII, it kind of misses the mark. The whole sequel trilogy just has no continuity.

7 is all about getting to Luke, its played as as a huge dramatic moment. 8 then uses the moment for laughs by having luke toss the saber. Then the theme of 8 is letting the past die. And what do we have in episode 9? Surprise were bringing back the emperor, because of reasons. Like what is the long term vision for this trilogy?

KK wanted to leave her *mark* on the industry, for better or worse, I think.

I'd say money too, but with how much fucking money she blew on all those unnecessary firings and reshoots on films...yeah, that definitely wasn't the worry this time.

People wanting plot in TM are crazy to me. I want to see more stories where the hero gets fed up and starts chasing after gigantic land rovers without any sort of forward thinking. No I don't want to see the silent badass bounty hunter kill everyone with ease, I want him to get stunlocked by a bunch of Jawas while a baby watches.

Shes behind every wrong thing thats happened in the Star Wars sequels and the things I dislike about them. I dont know what shes produced before but I assume it was all trash or if they were good they succeeded despite her awfulness as a producer. Shes fat!

Enlighten us, oh wise one. I know she fired Lord and Miller after they pretty much filmed 3/4 of Solo. I know she was apparently the one behind the massive reshoots for Rogue One. I know she was the one who championed Rian Johnson and his vision. I believe she basically created the current Star Wars story writing group.

But yeah, I might be missing some crucial things she did while being the President of Lucasfilm.

TFA was interesting and I was wondering where the story was going to go. TLJ killed all that. As for other stuff, Rogue One didn't enchant me like it did most people. I thought it was kinda boring and forgettable and it feels like a movie just for fan service. Still haven't seen Solo and ROS, TM, and that Obi Wan series don't really interest me at all. I never thought I'd not be interested in SW ever.

I just think of my younger self who was so obsessed with SW. Now it's just another franchise or series that joins the list with the others that have been ruined for me.

There's a bit more nuance to that than most people would like to think

Source?

And if so was that a negative thing? Most major hollywood films have reshoots during production.

If you have issues with the creative direction of the franchise then why would your ire not be directed towards the people actually making the creative decisions

Please enlighten me then, because you seem to always talk about the stuff "most people don't know" to imply they are wrong but then never actually elaborate.

Because it bloated the budget. Duh. You also make this excuse without even understanding the context behind it, you do it with Rise of Skywalker a lot without realizing that having reshoots to the very last minute of production on a post production heavy film isn't normal at all and is also very very costly.

It's almost like you can have issues with both the person that made the creative decisions, and the person who is in charge of everything and seemingly keeps letting these bad decisions happen. Crazy, right?

So, mind telling me all the good that Kathleen Kennedy does that you seem to always imply but never elaborate on?

Oh and as far as a source for the Rogue One reshoots, it's all over the place because different people involved say different things. It is one of those things that you kind of have to read between the lines to realize that it was a lot of trouble that, luckily in that case, paid off in the end. The problem wasn't so much the reshoots themselves for that film because it ended up becoming a success that most people at least enjoyed, but it's that because it worked for Rogue One it appears it became a defacto "fix" for all future films, which so far failed with Solo and the jury is still out on Rise of Skywalker.

This is the best article I've read on it without being total rumor and such, the fact that Ben Mendelsohn claims the reshoots could have 20-30 difference between scenes sort of sounds like the rumors about all the reshoots for Rise of Skywalker.

Star Wars is a kid's space adventure movie series. Rian Johnson decided not to stick to that and it didn't work out. Not every series needs to be intellectual or deep.

I like the things they're doing with Star Wars that's outside of the sequel trilogy. I think it's interesting to see events that take place right after the Jedi Purge as well as showing what happens shortly after the events of RotJ.

My feelings about the ST are that I enjoyed The Force Awakens but by the end of The Last Jedi I realized that I didn't really care about any of the new characters and all of the old characters are well...
