PD's story was the good kind of bad. The music and gameplay were essentially top notch, and the slowdown from the N64 not being present in the re-release fixed the only outstanding issue.

You know what N64 FPS was a friggin blast to play? Turek Rage Wars. Was brutally difficult/cheap single player but that multiplayer was awesome. Every gun had a secondary function
there was also a button combination to access this second function for one shot at a time. i forget what it was, but you had the ability to mix, and that's some good game. he said the story was bad in a good way, presumably because you help an alien named elvis save the universe from an evil onslaught called the skedar. --- ... It was just something about the palette, stages, music, atmosphere.
I know Perfect Dark just took everything about Golden Eye and made it better. But we just had so much damn fun playing Golden Eye. Even my parents played it with us. It was much harder to get people to play Perfect Dark. The muted colors and depressing atmosphere they would just leave after a match or two. While Golden Eye everyone would fight to play next all day Saturday and Sunday. Perfect Dark my memories are meh. Goldeneye my memories are like "Damn I wish they remastered it exactly like it was with modern day graphics and controls." The world ends with you does not deserve to be in this contest. ... Perfect Dark v Goldeneye is perhaps one of the best examples you can get of the importance of the intangible factors in game design like "atmosphere" and "soul".
On pretty much every objective level Perfect Dark is a more advanced version of Goldeneye and thus should be an even better game, but it's just missing those special x-factors that separate the all time classics from the merely really good. ... Copied to Clipboard!
