I like lots of anime, and since I just got a month of Hulu for free (for my birthday), I decided to (I think try again) try and watch Cowboy Bebop cause many friends have raved about it/love it.

I'm pretty sure I tried before and gave up, but can't remember it.....but I got to like the 3rd episode (maybe 4th) and I'm trying to force myself to keep going. There are not THAT many episodes and if I can watch them all, then at least I'll know enough to talk about it in the future.

I love firefly type things (Dark Matter was awesome), but yeah, this so far is not doing it for me at all.

Anyone else like Anime like Trigun or Of Grimnar and Ash etc, but just can't seem to enjoy Cowboy Bebop?

Most of Japan didn't enjoy it either. Always seemed strange to me how popular it was with foreign weebs. I guess they must have a hive mind.

Give it to episode 5. If that doesn't sell you on it, i'd say drop it.

Good show, often great show, but some people overhype it imo.

Actually....I do enjoy watching anime with friends more, but since I moved I have no friends. One Punch Man was so fun watching it with my friend Jen. Sadly I'm not having any luck meeting cool/fun people in Tacoma and I have mostly given up (cause it gets dark super early now). In spring I'll start searching again I guess.

Anyway....maybe I'm just not in the mood for this kind of anime right now. I always preferred fantasy style (especially anything dealing with VR/fantasy settings etc) over sci-fi.

Ahh sweet. Yeah my former roomate/friend was raving about it, said it was his favorite etc...so was feeling kinda down about not liking it. Glad to know i'm not the only one. It's not horrid mind you, but I have kinda gotten more picky on my Anime now that there is so many choices (just wish there was more like Of Grimnar and Ash or Goblinslayer etc).

I don't think I'm as ambivalent towards it as you sound, I'd rate it as an 8/10, bordering on a 9/10, but a lot of people online hype it up like its the best anime ever made, and I just can't agree with that.

As far as fantasy anime goes, I can't recommend slayers enough. Its from the 90s and has a much more comedic bent than goblin slayer (often being an outright parody of stuff), but generally gets more serious as it gets closer to the end of a season. Its pretty long though, with three 26 episode seasons (slayers, slayers next, slayers try), and two 13 episode seasons (revolution and evolution-r). The whole show's worth watching imo, but its best season was Next.

Hmm, I will try and find that, I don't think I have heard of it before. I love long, if it's good. Most of the really good stuff I have found in the past only has a season or so. I still have not tried One Piece or JoJo's adventures and a few others with a bunch of episodes...that people say are great.

I'm so picky though. I loved Sword art online initially but totally disliked it once they could fly (no clue why...just.....lost me somehow), and didn't even try the stuff with guns.

I have liked sci-fi anime in the past though. Vampire Hunter D I think was one of my first Anime shows along long time ago. While I can enjoy sci-fi though, I freaking love Anime that is dungeons and dragons themed...especially if it has leveling up and stuff....or VR games etc. It's so hard to find though. I watched the time I got reincarnated as a slime and really enjoyed that as well, and read the light manga books like Solo Leveling etc (also great).

One problem is there is so much Anime it's easy to get lost trying to find good stuff, and if I go through 2-3 shows without finding something that draws me in, I usually switch back to traditional TV shows (since there are so many I know I will like that I have not seen). Seems way easier to find a normal TV show that fits my interests then Anime....when the exact opposite should be true.
