Here's James Rolfe (Angry Video Game Nerd) talking about an alleged unmade movie which would have seen Dracula battling the Woofman.

I don't think he's doing it to be funny. He'll say wolf sometimes, but other times he'll say woof.

I've definitely heard people use the woof pronunciation. Not woof as in it rhymes with roof, but as in the oo has a similar sound as in the word shook

What are your guys thoughts on milk, because people always laugh when I say the word.

No, I do. There is a critical period during human development that allows them to perceive sounds. There is a reason why some persons who grew up only speaking chinese can't perceive the difference between an r and l sound.

No, I do. There is a critical period during human development that allows them to perceive sounds. There is a reason why some persons who grew up only speaking chinese can't perceive the difference between an r and l sound.

The Critical Period is a hypothesis that mostly relates to an individual's ability to acquire a native-like accent and the deep structure of a language, it has nothing to do with being able to perceive sounds. The difficulty in distinguishing between /r/ and /l/ has to do with them both being alveolar sounds (respectively a tap and an approximant) and one or the other not being part of the L1's phonemic inventory. It has nothing to do with the Critical Period or "undeveloped phonemes."

So yeah, try again or stay in your lane.

Except it does relate to perceiving sounds. Both people hear the same thing but interactions between Wernickes and the temporal lobe lead to differences in perception. You are literally wrong lol

It literally does not, and is literally only a hypothesis to explain a perceived advantage of younger brains in language acquisition.

Also not sure what an apparently neurological condition has to do with this discussion other than you googling some random shit to try to back up your ill-informed, uneducated point.

i feel like this is a thing where everyone pronounces it correctly every time because nobody actually calls it a woof but it can very easily sound like the other thing

like 'jaguar' sounding like 'jagwire'

My bad, only result when I just googled Wernickes was the latter.

Regardless, an education in neuroscience is not an education in linguistics or SLA theory

Do you know what a coast is?

"Eastern coast side" =/= East coast

There are also several states considered to be "East Coast" that do not actually have a coast and are landlocked

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_Coast_of_the_United_States

You think there is a conceptual issue here but that is not the issue.
