They are different games...the "standing around" is 40 seconds of chess with the coaches trying to outsmart the other team and once the ball is put into play it's some of the best athletes in the world trying to do that job. If you think it's just standing around and boring then that's on you but don't be so obtuse to think it's not an extremely taxing game.

Until they start waiting until the last second to spike the ball or call a Time Out. Look, I know that's football, but that's my point, it's lame and stupid and boring. I want to see some game play, not them standing around.

I guess the biggest issue/question I have is why Americans like it so much. Americans, in general, like action. Football has little action, and the big plays are quickly over as well. Hockey has huge hits and the play never stops. I don't understand why Americans are not more into this

football is like the chess of professional sports. The strategies of every team can differ greatly. The schemes of offense and defense can differ greatly between every team.

also its the only professional sport that is high stakes. Quality >Quantity. Every loss actually means something when you only got 16 or apparently now 17 games a season. Every play is very important.

what I like about the NFL is how different players can thrive on different systems. You can very rarely just plug in a good player (mid season) and expect them to dominate like a pitcher in baseball. They have to learn the playbook and how to play as a team. They have to have chemistry with their teammates.

The strategy of the game is also very complex. The defensive and offensive schemes can be very creative.

Soccer is boring af and unentertaining, almost as bad as baseball. That said, I'm willing to watch both. I'm willing to sit through an Angels game as long as I'm at the stadium, and for soccer, I'll watch during the Olympics IF Team USA is playing. If not, I just don't care.

The only way this won't be a trainwreck is if there's an additional bye week. Look at how many teams are limping around after 9 games!
Messing with the playoffs would be the absolute dumbest thing the NFL could do, but they're greedy morons, so of course they'll do it.

How are they going to schedule games right now you have

2 games against division teams - 6
One AFC conference - 4
One NFC conference - 4
One game against the teams that finish the same position as you in the other two conference divisions - 2

For a total of 16 games, where do you pull another game from? At random?
