Technically, he's not. That show is actually run by Fox, not WWE. It basically means he doesn't actually answer to anyone in the WWE hierarchy that he had issues with in the past.

This has been a thing people have known about for a couple months or so, ever since it became open knowledge that he'd tested for the presenter role on the show before it even started. And he admitted the only reason he'd take the job is because it's not WWE, and because he fully intends to speak his mind (and point out when he thinks storylines are shit) and not just parrot back the official party line.

Then again, he's also said that if the WWE brought him the right sort of deal with enough cash behind it he wouldn't be adverse to working with them again. And Triple H has said they're open to it on their side. So never say never.
