Here is the link of what I got:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RCNHTLS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

So, I have not been able to cook much since moving here. I don't like going upstairs to the kitchen as I rent the basement from a newly married couple and I like to give them their privacy. I can count the number of times in the last 4 months or so I have cooked in the kitchen on both hands.....possibly on one hand.

I have a tea maker down here, a toaster and a microwave...but that is it...so I have been eating out alot. Or making food I can microwave (I do use the BBQ grill in the back yard sometimes, but...now it's raining so that is much harder).

I saw the instant pot was on sale 30% off or so (around $70 total) and decided to get it. I can at least make stews in it....and I think I can make pasta/pasta sauce in it as well. I may be even able to sautee things (it says you can)....but we will see.

Anyway, anyone on here use one, have tips, favorite things you have made etc? I 'm gonna search online for cooking tips using one, recipes etc....but I figured I'd ask here as well.

I was a long time cook, but since it's just me, I have cooked much less. I often end up eating very little lately, because of this. I even go shopping and leave without buying anything because I just don't see anything I want. I'm hopping this will kick start me back into cooking food again. I'm too..........picky....to eat most frozen foods etc, and even though it's not logical, I generally won't eat, if I don't like the taste of the food I have as an option.

My dad has one. I used it once to make a soup while I was cat-sitting, pretty sweet.

I do have one tip. The release valve is situated in such a way that you can prop a wooden spoon's handle under it and through the lid's handle to release the pressure more slowly than the quick release but faster than waiting the 10 minutes or so.

Thanks RedFrog. I have never used a pressure cooker before, so this will be new.

YEah Zang it's perfect for that and they are pretty small, so you can travel with it easy. Will be nice if I ever go on trips.

I've been watching youtube videos and yeah it looks perfect for what I want. You can sautee in it, and that would let me easily and quickly make a meat sauce. In fact you can just add the pasta to the meat sauce after it's done, and pressure cook it for 8 minutes and it's done (it seems).

I'm a bit leery of all that starch but supposedly it is good, so we will see. I'm betting I could actually just cook the pasta in water in the pot, then drain it/rinse it, and finish it off in the pot again with the sauce to mix in the flavors really fast.

Anyway it should be great for soups (Which I really like) and pot roasts etc. I need to find some pre-made wontons though, since I love wonton soup. I know they have em at trader joe's but I have never seen good ones at safeway/winco etc, to just add to soup.

I don't have amazon prime anymore so it might not be here till the 22nd (says 18th-22) but Once I start using it I'll post recipes and how things come out etc:)

No prob, bob. Pressure cooking is glorious, even if it can be dangerous. Although the IP basically makes it foolproof with all its fancy settings and timers. It even has a locking valve to make certain it can't be accidentally opened until the pressure has been released.

Sweet. Yeah I have a slow cooker, with timers and heat settings but for some reason my pot roasts made in it have not been good for along time. I have not even tried for months. I'm hoping I can do pot roasts with the pressure cooker and have it come out fall apart/soft....I really love that both for chicken and lamb/beef etc.

I love that I'll be able to sautee down here though as well, so much I can do with that, also I love soups and just being able to cut up some mushrooms, toss in some onions/garlic/bell pepper and make a nice broth soup will be awesome.

I'm really curious about how the pasta tastes though. Some people think......things I can't stand...are delicious though (most frozen meals for instance), so I'll see....I can't imagine pasta without the starch being drained will be good.

Sweet!!

Oh yeah, I forgot it has a rice cooker option.

Actually I am going to do research on how to make fried rice.....cause......I love fried rice....but I don't like peas, carrots or onions in it. I just like the crunchy flavor of it fried (I really like it with good diced pork in it if possible).

I've never been able to make it at home nearly as well (i've tried). I don't like eggs either....and usually when I tried frying rice (even with mushrooms/chiken etc), it sticks to the pan etc.

So that will be one of the things I attempt:)

Honestly, I think I saw a post about it on here before and that is what made me think of it today and find one on amazon. I know I got the idea before from somewhere.

I got an Instant Pot clone on clearance from Aldi for under $30 after sales tax. It makes better rice than my expensive Japanese rice maker and can do hard boiled eggs in like 5 minutes. I'm going to try making some 15 bean soup fairly soon (I need a ham bone first). Normally you have to soak the beans overnight then cook them for 2 to 2-1/2 hours, in a pressure cooker it should take about 30-60 minutes with no soaking!

I've had mine for 7 years now. It just died. Used it hundreds of times. You can cook meat very well, I used to use it to beer braise ribs before they got baked or grilled. Slow cookers do not compare

Make soup stock in it, so good

Hehe, I can't wait. Especially for making soup!! I just need to either start makign my own wontons (I have in the past but they never come out as good), or find somewhere that sells them frozen/packaged already to go in the store (no clue why this isn't common).

Maybe an asian store would have them.....sadly the only ones I know of were in Olympia (I am sure there are some in tacoma just gotta look em up).

If I can get some good wontons and make my own soup, I will be sooooo happy.

Also can't wait to do beef ribs, I've been avoiding beef at home, but if I can make some good beef ribs (there are like NO beef rib places in washington ...it's like they hate them or something), I will be really happy as well:)

I got a 6 quart one as well, which is important for beef ribs since there isn't much meet on each rib.

I'd finish em either on the grill or in the broiler of course, but even the thought of making them again (I used to all the time in gilroy) makes me salivate lolz.
