it's really sad how far this franchise has fallen since the greatness of gen 5. GF is showing that the hardware limitations of the pre-3DS handhelds was a giant boon for them. they have absolutely no idea what they're doing when they have to fill in more details and leave less to the imagination

Corporate is who says: "This is how much time. This is how much money. This is how much staff."

And this is the result. No matter how much love or talent is among the developers individually, you can't build Rome in a day.

I've slept on Pokemon. Never found the time to get into it, so I don't have a horse in this race. All I know I don't have time for people who run the "developers are lazy" track, or people who are like "I deserve better".

And I'll be interested in watching the "Wha Happen?" from Matt McMuscles on this.

But in this case anyone with even the tiniest amount of information can see that Gamefreak is as incompetent as it get. Which is really saying something when they produce the highest earning video game franchise in the world. A franchise thats made 95 billion dollars for ducks sakes.

Theres no devils advocate here. This is a company who has been coasting for decades now and getting away with it.

This is like a kid in school who is always the top grade scorer in class, despite the fact that he has NEVER written an original essay. He wrote one years ago and has been copy and pasting it ever since and for some reason the teacher eats it up. Its full of grammar and spelling errors that go ignored. Other kids slave away and work their asses off but cant even touch the grades this kid gets.

Now that kids in college and people are finally starting to wise up to lazy shit that he is.

Either way, as I said there, I feel that for what they did and for their own faults, even the Let's Go games had more polish than these games do.

I mostly get the games for the post game battling so Im usually not totally happy with the end product. That being said, what the FUCK did they spend the extra dev time that Dexit apparently afforded them on?

Also in some cases they clearly had to go out of their way to change things that worked fine.

Consider it this way

Previous games have X amount of development time
Dexit provides + 2 development time
Corporate says the development team has X-10 development time

The result is a worse game with less features even though Dexit provided a little extra time for other things

I still think the dexit argument is dumb and people complaining are babies - but 18 hours, the removed move list, the even easier difficulty, the lack of scaling, and not catching higher level pokemon are all big deals

I don't think we'll get one for this, since he uses actual dev testimony on the issues of the games be cover, and Japanese devs in particular are very secretive.

I'm totally willing to believe that this isn't all Game Freak's fault, that there are multiple parties that have only aided in pushing this game to its current state.

But unfortunately for GF, when it comes to this product, I don't really care about the circumstances surrounding it. This Pokemon game does not look fun and is not something that I want to support. And that's all there is to it. Hopefully, something happens for the next generation of Pokemon to help put the series back on track.

Hell, I wouldn't even be opposed to a reboot at this point.

Gamefreak should stick with pachinko machine instead.

They'll release the fixed, better and complete version in 1 year and will have made double the money. Whatever, I stopped caring about the series a while ago

After Sun and Moon, I don't think Gamefreak really cares about making quality games. Hell, their Little Town Hero game also didn't turn out to be good either.

They already did a massively successful reboot called Pokemon Go. They have no reason to put any effort into the old series that requires more work.

They have been. Pokemon go brought in a shitload of new kid fans, as did let's go Pikachu/evee.

Tbqh I feel like Nintendo has always resented the fact that the pokemon games were more popular with adults than kids, considering miyamoto's desire to make kids games.

Are you kidding me? Adults were the primary audience for Pokemon RBY, GSC, RSE and DPP? Fuck off with that bullshit.

The games might have courted an adult fanbase, but I'm willing to bet that a majority of current adult fans grew up with the games as kids. "More popular with adults" might apply from about X and Y onwards, but that adult fanbase wouldn't exist without the franchise's massive appeal for kids in the late 90's and early 00's.
