Took the wife out for a date night. Looked like a cute romcom.

Holy crap that movie was not a traditional romcom lol. This was more akin to a Nicholas Sparks movie if anything.

Anyone else see it?

Black out any spoilers as there are some movie-ruining plot details if you haven't seen it.

Ehh not quite. It's actually an inspirational movie with a positive message. Just with a lot of romantic movie cliches thrown in.

How much nudity?

None. Just a shower scene at the beginning where a naked woman walks in on the female lead naked but nothing is seen.

Yes, multiple times in different styles.

She actually performs the song at the end of the movie to illustrate the preceding events

Yes. I knew nothing about this movie going in, hadn't even seen a trailer. My wife thought it looked cute so we spontaneously watched it since we have AMC A List.

I thought it was deeper than the premise made it seem. You do see the twist coming fairly early in the movie but it doesn't take the impact away.

At the very least it subverts most romantic tropes and ends very differently than your traditional movie. Overall it's a feel-good movie that has you smiling at the end.

There is a scene where they actually zoom in on her taking off her shoes.

Wrote books (which then became movies) such as The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, The Choice, and The Last Song.

Basically romantic tearjerker movies.

However, this movie feels overall more positive than those and the message is less "love conquers all" and more like "learn to love yourself and see the good you can do in the world".
