And how often do you just say no?

I am the boss so Im in early all the time. But I call and ask people in early a lot. Some do it, some dont. The ones that do it are also the first people I come with when I have days where I can send people home early.

Its a two way street.

Rarely. I say no. I'll stay late for a few hours of overtime. But I already have to get up at 430am. I'm not getting up earlier than that.

Happened like 3 or 4 times in the 4 months I've been there, actually going in is like 50/50, it depends if I'm busy or not

I have one meeting every 2 weeks that starts at 8:30, but that only means I have to be about 5 minutes early to get to that meeting since I get in at 8:30. Other then that, I have "core" hours of 9:00 to 4:00, then I am free to choose my start and end time as long as I end up with 40 hours and the end of the week (minus PTO).

They do that for my new job. We have core hours. As long as we get the minimum 40 a week and are there for the core hours, we have very flexible schedules...

Never. I had a few that tried making OT "mandatory". I came in the next Monday asking my co-workers how they enjoyed losing their weekend while I'm sure the boss didn't even show up for the days they made "mandatory".

Never. Me and my team are given a "mission" to better the company, and we just have to do what we think is best to make it happen. Sometimes there will be an outage (I work in software) and we'll get paged overnight, and sometimes I have to meet with a team mate who works in an office oversea where the timezone difference forces me to work early. Usually I can work from home when that happens, and in rare occasion I'll hit the office. But no one is asking "hey, can you come in at 5am today?". It's just the solution to a problem I have to tackle as part of my work.

All around pretty rare, and the few times (I can count on my fingers over a half decade) it did happen, I just took the afternoon or next day off to make up for it.

I used to be asked all the time for every place I worked. Then I'd get asked "can you stay late" at the end of my shift. It's not that all surprising when almost every facility in the state is short staffed
