I love horror so I want to like it but every time I give it a shot, it's just been unintersting. Like I watched the first couple episodes of Apocalypse... cool start with the apocalypse and the agents, but then it turns into a gimp dungeon. Show is also very handicapped by being on cable tv. It's b movie writing but without b movie gore and nudity to compensate.

Yeah, the seasons are interesting the first half, mediocre the second and end the last episode horribly.

I honestly haven't had any interest in watching this new season 1984, but I probably will later. Afaik, this season doesn't have Evan Peters nor Kathy Bates. After losing Lange, it's getting tough.

Apocalypse is the absolute worst season of the whole series.

While I actually loved Coven, I know that it was probably the least favorite season up until Apocalypse. So I don't understand why they basically made Apocalypse a continuation of Coven, with slow ass episodes. Also it doesn't really fit the theme of the show, like zero percent.

I watched the first three seasons and just felt.. underwhelmed? I expected horror, and while there were definitely some unexpected scares/twists, there was so much soap opera I felt like I was watching a CW show.

imo a big part of the appeal is more in the atmosphere and the way they tie in historical figures and events into these fictional storylines.

It's an exploration of classic American urban legends, history, serial killers, folklore, etc., wrapped up into (imo) interesting stories.

Also a big part of why I didn't like Apocalypse. It just spent the whole season revisiting earlier seasons in a very, very boring way. It tried to be a unique story and it failed very bad.

I couldn't make it through the first episode of season 1. I stopped after 20 minutes because it felt like I had pissed half my day away.

I enjoyed the latest season, but it feels a little early for the finale. Guessing it'll be more of their usual

I saw 1, 2, and half of 4.

Show can be completely ignored after maybe seasons 1 and 2.

My biggest problem with the show is how incredibly sloppy they are with tying up storylines.

In every. Single. Season.

Agreed.

And my biggest problem with Apocalypse is that the first 3 episodes actually take place in the far more interesting and, up until now, unvisited setting of the post-Apocalypse. Then it totally abandons that setting for a far less interesting storyline. I really wish the entire plot took place in the post-Apocalypse, because the idea of a post-Apocalypse brought about by the literal Antichrist, with witches and warlocks running around trying to stop him is a really cool idea. I also found Michael to be a much more credible in the first 3 episodes. I mean, I get that that's the point but I was genuinely enjoying him as a villain at the start.

Also TC, if you're not a big fan of the CW-style drama, I'd check out Roanoke. I found that season genuinely scary and it didn't have the cheesy writing that many of the other seasons had (Coven was especially bad about this).

Coven is both my favorite season and also the least scary. It just felt like it had the most cohesive story with a relatively good conclusion compared to every other season.

Roanoke broke the formula but the execution could have been a hundred times better.

I just finished it actually. I was like this is awesome. Then the witch shit came out. It was a cool story about being in bunkers anymore. Then I started getting confused about everything from flashing back to so many different timelines. I had to google a bunch of the stuff. But then the witch vs the antichrist stuff was a little cool, but then it would dip down to straight up boring drag on flashbacks.

Then a weak send off and final confrontation

Emma Roberts is bae. It seems to be the story for every season though. They end up with a decent horror setup then it becomes a soap opera with no horror involved at all. I still dont get wtf the first season or hotel were even about

I haven't watched many seasons of it. I recall liking the first season when it came out. I should go back and watch it again, cause I really don't remember much. I think I gave up after that though. I may have tried to watch another season, but feel like I quickly lost interest.
I am watching the newest season. It has been alright. I really didn't expect it to go in the direction it did when it first started. Guess we will see how it ends...

Yeah that was funny lol. She was also in Coven. I actually liked that, too >_> Lily Rabe is hot and her Fleetwood Mac obsession was also hot.

FX's obsession with her is weird; there were at least a couple Fleetwood Mac songs in The Americans, too.

My favorite season is Asylum. I thought it played up the horror bits relatively well. Although it had a few plotlines that went nowhere (which is typical AHS fashion), I thought it had a satisfying conclusion and overall told a cohesive story.

Plus, the random dance number in the middle was amazing and fit the theme. Reminded me of the movie Good Burger.

The aliens were really fucking weird though and felt totally out of place in the story.

Everything else about Asylum was really fucking good though.
