Look man, I get it, when it comes to quality food and alcohol you get what you pay for. I'll spend the money for a good bottle of scotch or bourbon. I'll spend the 50 dollars for a good cut of meat. It's rice, I cannot simply fathom a way for rice to taste that much better that it justifies an upfront payment of 300 dollars. Explain to me the difference, i'm willing to learn, i'm just skeptical ; p

That's how I felt when we got a standard rice cooker, compared to cooking on stovetop.

I can never go back to stovetop rice, ever again.

yeah my 300 dollar rice cooker is also a pressure cooker. its amazing.

for the first 30 minutes it lets a little pressure out, like a normal one would

then it announces that its going to release the pressure (YES IT TALKS) then BAM it shoots it all out. its amazing.

This topic reminds me of the part in that Egoraptor MMX video where he goes "this game is amazing!"

But yeah, a cheap rice cooker was such an upgrade from stove rice that I can believe an expensive rice cooker in turn blows it away.

You are black......asian-bit-ish, your wife is Asian. I can't remember if she's Korean or Chinese but iirc she is the latter.

Hmm....now that I think about it,will you be celebrating Chinese New Year for 2020? Since you guys recently got married.

Might as well fully embrace it since you bought a USD 300 rice cooker haha.

Of course people that don't eat rice every day don't see the usefulness of a rice cooker. Stovetop rice doesn't compare to rice cooker rice. Sure it's easy to cook rice on stovetop, but it's also easy to screw it up. If you have to cook rice multiple times a day having to stand by the stove for 20 minutes is tedious.

Way to generalize.

I've been making rice via rice cooker since I was a toddler. When I moved out of the house, one of the first things I wanted to buy was a rice cooker. Until I saw the prices. Then I learned how easily made rice can be made by putting it on the stove.

I also have more control over how it tastes. I've learned to season rice on stove top if I so choose.
