I've definitely invested significant amounts of time into games that I eventually dropped out of boredom. RDR2 being the most recent example, and from what I've heard DS is like RDR2 on boredom steroids.

Games frequently have more boring downtime bits in between set pieces and it can take a while to realize or adjust to a game that is almost all downtime.

I've had two sessions with it

it's interesting but the game is really trying hard to hold your hand while you play it

I'm on like mission 10 and it still is just optional tutorial stuff

hence why the game needs a external music player like metal gear had with the ipod doo hicky

I also have an SSD to play the game on, I don't know how much that is helping
probably not a lot
once the game starts it seems pretty seamless

but yeah it seams more like a black mirror episode about working for amazon then it does a kojima game at this point

I'm about 7 hours in and I'm trying to figure out how I feel. So far it's interesting, but I need a little more. I don't know what that is exactly, but it feels incomplete.

Also, I rage quit after running my bike off a cliff unexpectedly fucking up my packages.

Friendly reminder Tomokazu Fukushima was the real brains behind Metal Gear Solid. Kojima is more interested in toilet humor, lewd dialog, and having movie actors say stupid things.
