For one, GameFAQs visitors are on a steady decline. But also? Happiness is on a steady decline. In 2005 we had the biggest percentage of "nothing can hold me back." In 2019 we have the biggest percentage of "I should have stayed in bed today."

Why is everyone leaving GameFAQs, where are they going, and why was the world/Internet such a happier place in 2005?

Younger demographics on this site. It was also a time when people who wanted to get online had to use a computer. With the release of the iphone in 2007, and the proliferation of smart phones since, most traffic online comes from phones, which means sites that capitalized on phone users became the heavy hitters. The internet is becoming smaller as people visit less websites then what they did 10-20 years ago.

So we're sadder because we're older, and all of the young people with their mobile phones would rather go on Snapchat?

I went on the Wayback Machine and look at GameFAQs in May 2010 vs. GameFAQs in May 2019.

Look at that. Look at those topics. Look at timestamps between threads. What have we become? Remember when we used to talk about whether or not Chelle was intimate with her dog? Why don't we talk about that stuff anymore?
