I've also never played the MMOs. Wonder if I should give a 11 a shot while it still exists.

11 is definitely not a game for you if you are used to modern mmos. The game has a NUTTY amount of grind to it.

If you are looking for a modern mmo experience go with 14.

Not saying 11 is bad but ya gotta go in expecting the most grind you have ever experienced in a game then multiplying that by 100.

FF14 is the only newer one I've been playing.

It actually has a respectable storyline and characters and the playerbase is friendly, helpful, and mature compared to most online games.

Yeah I have a hard time getting into MMOs and I recently gave FFXIV a third shot and I actually made it to the first set of dungeons and I was really enjoying it. The story starts off slow but everyone says the stories for the expansion packs are better (with Shadowbringers being one of the best FF stories of all time apparently).

I'm just enjoying the fact that I got a Chocobo and it kills for me.

I don't think they're gonna shut it down anytime soon. There are MMOs from even before that that are still up and running (from different companies but still).

And yeah they literally still charge $12 plus $1 per character

Bleh.

I kinda want to play 15 because what I saw of the exploration and battle system reminded me of 12, which I dig in those regards. Apparently everyone rags on it, though. What miffs me is that they allegedly had a much more compelling story to tell and ended up watering it down because they weren't making progress on the game as a project.

As far as 11 goes, guess I'll just continue buying the soundtracks, for now.

If you want an MMO you should definitely check out XIV, though. It starts off fairly slow but it picks up fairly quickly, especially if you play it the smarter way (skipping side quests that you've already outleveled so you can do them later with another, lower level class).

Neato. For me it's more a matter of wanting to form an opinion about every major FF release than getting into an MMO, but since I've never done that it would be a novel experience fo' sho'.

I feel weird about buying movies, but part of me is tempted to buy that FF15 thing. (I never saw Advent Children either, tbqh.)

It still makes them a laaaaarge profit, costs next to nothing to maintain the servers, and they don't have to invest more money into it as Rhapsodies was the final expansion pack. Game is going to be around for the foreseeable future.

I don't know about shutting down the PC version, but there were rumors for a while that they were going to make a mobile version.

And I don't mean a watered down, alternate version of FF11, I mean they were literally going to bring FF11 wholesale to be made somehow playable on modern phones and tablets and it would even crossplay with the PC version (just as the PlayStation and XBox versions did back in the day).

But the last I heard of that rumor was years ago, so either it's been abandoned or was never true to begin with (as rumors often are).

Playing XI is like participating in a Civil War reenactment. You do it to experience how things were. XIV, though, is great and is legit better at being a FF than any other numbered title since like X-2. (Your opinion of which FF was the last great one will vary)

In terms of storyline, is XI simple? My brain keeps wanting to think of it as sort of a series reboot.
