River City Ransom is the best NES era game imo.

It certainly has aged spectacularly, but so has Super Mario Bros 3. Dr. Mario has aged perfectly. The Tetris games have aged fine...

For me C, but every game is as good or bad now as it was when it was released. Some games have been improved on more than others, though.
The experience of Tecmo Super Bowl hasn't really been improved on, but the AI is probably the worst I've ever seen in a video game and as a football game it's pretty terrible. I'd say Dr. Mario is probably top pick; runners up are the first person puzzle/adventure games of Shadowgate, Deja Vu, and Uninvited. A lot of Capcom games (Mega Man series, Little Nemo, Duck Tales). They're easy to control and not so unforgiving.
