Yes, it's like spitting in the face of disabled people, using a service that isn't designed for you. Also physically opening a door is just posturing and ableist, flaunting your well working limbs and all. Fuck the able.

Lmao. I always felt like it was an insult too. Which is why I never used it. But I have seen others use it who arent handicapped. So I was wondering.

It's usually quite a bit slower than just opening it yourself, unless your hands are full, so I'd say yes.

It's lazy but idk about insulting. I mean, so many people use elevators when there's always stairs.

It's insulting to pass a pet as a service animal. That's the one I see the most. People try to say it's a service dog, then you call them out and it becomes an emotional support dog, etc. It boils down to people being entitled and having to own a life. One of them bit me right in the butt and tried to convince me still.

There is a woman that brings a big, hairy, dirty dog into the grocery store my husband manages. It and she smells. It is not trained in any way. She jerks it around when it doesn't follow her. These untrained animals will piss on lower products and shit the floor.

This whole offense culture is absurd. It's a fucking button. All you need to tell right from wrong in an instance like this is a decent sense of practicality. adjl said it just fine. It's usually faster to open the door yourself, but if there's some reason, handicap or not, that would make the button advantageous in a given situation, there's no reason not to, unless for example there's someone in a hurry behind you, in which case you could let them open the door and follow them through.

People using it that don't need it cause the system to break faster and then no one, especially those that need it, can use it.

Use your arms to open the door, you lazy asses.

I use it all the time. Normally for a reason though. Like when I have multiple bags of clothes when I do laundry. On the gym on base because Im usually holding a bag in one hand and searching for my keys and stuff with the other. And the buttons is far back enough that the door is usually open when I get to it. Or if I have a bunch of kids to control...

I can see you all "blasting" someone on social media and fabricating it as a great injustice and privilege check, because you get off like that, but the answer is factually no.

First off, as an American, I firmly believe that all doors should open automatically without pushing a button. I mean, what, did we lose a war? Second, pushing those buttons is doing a public good, because you're ensuring that they work.

Never realized it's a "handicap" button, it just says "open". It's sure handy when I'm wheeling a cart with classroom supplies. I also use the elevator instead of carrying my cart up or down the stairs.

Other times, stairs are much faster, as is not waiting for the powered door.

He can do something. He really should. It's a health violation and would probably even drive sales to have that person out of there.

I live on the 5th floor of my apartment building - there is no way in hell I'm carrying a bunch of groceries up 5 flights of stairs when I can use the elevator instead

Elevators aren't installed just for the handicap. The push button activated doors are. If they wanted automatic doors for everyone, they'd install them, like grocery stores.
