NKL for a minor bad thing, 3KL for a medium-level bad thing, and 10KL and a Warning for a really bad thing. This system worked so well, and was in use for about 15 years. Now, we have this crummy black and white system, where, if a mod feels you've done something wrong (correctly or incorrectly), it frequently seems to result in a Warning, and 10 karma taken away.

Yeah atm you get warned with a clean mod history for innocuous things.

Honestly, neither system was good.
Does anyone even care about karma loss? "You did a bad thing! I'm taking away 10 karma!" OK. I've been on various message boards for 20 years now. This isn't the worst system ever. But it's pretty bad. It especially sucks in terms of accountability and apathy. I honestly have never got the impression that anyone on the staff really cares if the site dies or not.
