Because they are fake. They might as well be nice and beautiful.

Because most male characters are just generic shaved-head muscle bros, our standards for male characters have been conditioned to literally anything other than that

Why do nerds have very high standards for the appearance of female characters? this phenomena is not exclusive to one gender, just like the term "nerd" isn't either theres plenty of geeky women who have similar idealistic standards for fictional male characters there are subcultures for it... --- Moo. #Listen&Investigate ...
